Hello to all. Just picked up this H&R Model 65. Paid $550. Seems to be all correct and a low S/N. It is missing one of the side screws for the Redfield sight and has an incorrect screw for the trigger guard.Check out the pics and maybe someone can comment on availability of the screws and the condition for the price. Thanks to all.

For the amount you spent you did very well. Any gun shop should have the type screw you need for the rear sight.

I doubt many gun shops would have that screw, gun smiths would be a better bet.

To me Sir, a gun shop has a gun smith. A gun store is the same as Bass Pro, Academy Sports, Walmart etc.... heck, I probably have several in my spare screws box.

Around where I live in NH there are several smaller gun shops, one has an on site gunsmith, the others don't. There are also a few good gunsmiths around. I do not consider places like Walmart to be gun shops, they are stores that happen to sell some guns.

One of the small gun shops I deal with has a pretty good selection of Brownell's gun screws, I've gone through his boxes to find plug screws for a pre-64 Winchester Model 70. The variety of screws for specific applications is quite large. I wish the OP luck, the Reising Model 65 is an interesting rifle, I am fortunate enough to have one. The screw for the TG shouldn't be too difficult, just an oval head wood screw, any good hardware store should have it.

OP, pull the other rear sight screw and take it to a hardware store for thread matching. Hopefully they would have something that at least works, and it is not a specific gun-only thread pitch.

Screws should be 6-48.
As for the above rifle, it has been altered with the addition of the rear sight on the barrel.
It would have been very collectable had that not been done. It falls into the USMC training
Rifle contract.

Yes, for that alteration, the price is too high.
