Brno #5 question

Log in to see fewer ads
I have an opportunity to pick up a rifle that apparently is marked Brno #5
But also has the CZ emblem in front. Manufactured 74.
Is this an actual Brno 5 or a CZ ? I have not been able to get pics yet ?
Thanks for any advice

Also looking for a butt plate for a brno #1 not having any luck finding one in Canada, and most places that I have checked will not ship international
Could use a rear sight for it as well but not as important at this time

Model 5

My '72 Model 5 has the Brno logo on the barrel and the butt plate.

Not that long ago Western Gun Parts in Edmonton had Model 1 rear sights listed - give them a try.

So do you consider it a brno or a CZ? Does it affect value?
I checked western gun parts, they said no sights in stock
Thanks though.

Brno or CZ

I have a later gun Marked "Brno Arms" that clearly has the CZ logo on it. The two logos look similar at first - study them closely. I would call it by the logo displayed on the rifle. The Brno logo has a "Z" in the circle - the CZ has a "Z also, but it has a "C" partially surrounding it.

Brno Logo;

CZ Logo:

Good to know. I can pick this rifle up, for about the same price as a 455, but I think it looks a lot nicer.

I guess what I am trying to find out is is a 74 brno model 5 worth less than say, a 64

My 1950number1 has the z in the circle.

Value

As a rabid Brno collector, it makes a difference in my purchase decision; however, in the wider market, the condition will likely affect the value more than the year and actual maker. Same great design with some variations in quality over the years. You really can't go wrong if you get it for a decent price...............

Just my opinion.

If I could get it for the same price as a 455, I would be all over it.

They arenít making BRNOs anymore.

The 455 is recent, but nothing extraordinary.

Western Gunparts lists sights on gunbroker but it is a 3/8" dovetail instead of a 1/2" like a model 1. Not sure what model is 3/8".
