Yes I have a Win. Model 57
It is one of the last of my rimfire
rifles that will go.

Luckily found in a pawn shop
Came with a peep sight
a folding front sight and a
read sight just ahead of the
receiver.

Original magazine and canvas “NoBuckle” sling.
Used, but not abused, stock dings and bluing loss.

Have photos on my phone, but can’t post them here.
Shoulders/handles superbly
Ranks near top of my list.
Regards, buntingmiester

I've had two. Sold the lesser one. Prices have always been high on the 56/57 but they have not increased percentage wise like the 69/72's.

Mainly because they are less expensive and the market is flooded with them. I must have 10 M69's and "A"s and 3 M72's and "A"s. A couple in the $1,000 range, One of my 56's was $1,200 and the other $1,700. I think my M57 was around $1,000, but all these rifles were really nice. Big Larry

Love my 57! Others may think it ruined because of added scope, but with my eyes I need a scope on the rifles I shoot for more than tin cans. It is a period scope added a long time ago. I'd never install a new scope on a collectable.Winchester 57 -2_1558676049895.jpgWinchester 57_1558676138411.jpg

My latest 57

The 57 was my first and now 70 years this is my last. Yes, I know the checkering is maybe not factory, but I don't care! Love these little pre-52's.

Gave it a good cleaning but haven't shot it yet.

Gotta find one of those 'round to-its'.

Very nice rifle.

What is "evil" about eBay? You found the part you needed on the site, seems it wasn't so "evil" towards you. I've located many items on eBay, most of us have done the same, we'd never find these things without it.

Oh, I guess I was just trying to be a smart---.

But then, if I didn't think there was a 'chance' to find the missing sight, I would have saved
the price of the rifle in the first price and then the price of the sight in the second place.

I don't know, is enabling evil?

(No, but lack of willpower probably is . . . )

I have a M57 I found/purchased a year or so ago. Just this week I was able to locate the sight part I needed to get it up & running. Really don't know much about the rifle. I purchased it and put it away for a while, now I have it out to clean & prep it. Looking forward to shooting it soon. My SN is under 6000, haven't pulled the barrel yet to see if it's date stamped.
I purchased because I like old guns & I liked the looks of it and the sights it had. Later discovered the 57's were somewhat lower in production numbers, glad to have it in the family.

Milsurp Garage

Milsurp Garage reviewed the M57 10 months ago over on You-Tube. As far as I know, he is the only one that has taken the task and did a review on this model. He did a fantastic job. I suggest to anyone who has in interest on the M57 to go over and check it out. I have one, and it's one of the many of my favorite .22's . I love the history behind these unknown gems.

I just bought one a couple of weeks ago as part of a package deal. Came here to ask a couple of questions. I'm pretty sure mine was reblued. Metal and all bluing is excellent. If refinished, was done well. Blue book says they are D&Ted receivers. I think they mean the barrels. Mine has an old Lyman scope of the right age on it. Don't have pictures yet.
Questions.
1- Is barrel drilled and tapped for scope blocks from factory?
2- Center screw on my trigger guard is a Phillips screw. Every other screw on rifle is a slotted screw. Pretty sure that is wrong?
Will try to come back with pictures.
