I purchase the exact vintage Lapau rimfire cartridges today at my local shop. The fellow had 5 on hand and were marked $2.50 each. Nonetheless I took them all home.

Great Thread

Hi, IHMSA80X80. Like many others, all I can say about your thread is WOW! Many thanks for starting it. I began reading it at posting #1 and looked, AND READ, every one of the many pages. GREAT STUFF. Good pics, and good, useful, historical info.

All those comments I read about putting together a COMPREHENSIBLE GUIDE, I am most interested in and would be glad to contribute any help I can. The only boxes I seriously spent any time researching were the older (pre-'80s) CIL/Dominion group, but I've done nothing more on that project since I sold a large collection in the late '80s, when we moved back to The States to care for elderly parents.

Yesterday I picked up a few full, mint boxes of the blue Winchester-Westerm Wildcat Dynapoint in a mint brick box at a small local gun shop where I was purchasing an FFL 1 transfer. I'd never seen them and was looking for more info when I stumbled across this thread. I notice you already posted one of these. Can you give me any indication of dates, value, etc.? I've got 4 full and one partial I'll be selling or use as traders.

I recognize a lot of the posters here from other RFC threads. So, you've got a new reader here. I'll be happy to share photos of the boxes I've managed to accumulate in a short time.

Here's a 1970's Remington tin I haven't seen pictured here. I got several of them a couple of years ago. I let one go at a recent online auction and it only sold for $30, so I'm gonna' hang onto the rest of them to use as traders.

The little pamphlet has an offer that expired in 1979, that's where I got the date.

This is the only one I unsealed to learn what was inside.

I've got lots of photos of old .22rf ammo ads I can share on here, if anyone's interested. Even got a few from The Rod And Gun In Canada, 1917 edition. Also lots of boxes to share that I haven't seen on here.

The vast majority of my boxes are US and Canadian, to match the guns I collect. Have a number of foreign boxes, but not a whole lot.

Here is a photo to show how I use these old boxes as props, for displaying my old guns to their best advantage.

This one is a tiny Iver Johnson (when he worked alone) made from 1870-1890. It's stamped on top of the barrel, STAR VEST POCKET.

Anyway, thanks a lot for the thread. I'll add more if you wish.

Best regards from The Gunshine State ~ ~ ~ GGN

Yep!

Seems to be real good for 'yote hunting. Here's what it's knocked off so far.

And, if you believe THAT, I've got some swampland down here I'd like to offer you...

Remington600,

Thanks for the photo! I have one of the 15 rd. tubes but have not seen the box that it came from or how many tubes were in the box.

Unusual WMR Box

Sorry, I got off track there in a moment of frivolity...

Here is an unusual GI box I picked up a couple of years ago. It is Winchester-Western and is rubber-stamped, "#11 SHOT" and, "EXPERIMENTAL USE ONLY." Very good condition and full of what appears to be original rounds.

Have not yet learned what these cryptic markings meant to our Government. Perhaps another reader can fill us in on the background of this box???

Best regards ~ ~ ~ GGN

Change Of Pace...

This is NOT about .22rf boxes, my question regards headstamps. Was working on my box collection when I ran across a bunch of loose rounds stuck in the cabinet. Got to checking the headstamps.

I've run into a stranger. Does anyone know what company produced the headstamp pictured below?

Thanks for any info.

Best regards ~ ~ ~ GGN
