🪀🪀 STOCK 195, WALNUT BENCHREST 🪀🪀

Here's a few pictures of a stock I did this spring. This walnut was stacked in a barn for about 70 years. Walnut that has dried naturally, like this stock, has the most beautiful color. I destroyed an almost new saw blade cutting out this stock, there was a 3 inch piece of barbed wire hidden inside the board.

Thanks Eric, my next project is gonna be something very different for me. A friend and RFC member has talked me into trying to building him a new stock for his Anschutz rifle. Im guessing Iíll have to post this build in the non 10/22, building section of the forum. The stock will be built from walnut.
This is gonna be a challenge for an old country boy.

Number 204 is now in my gun cabinet. Black Brownells action with a Fedderson bull barrel. It's beautiful! They just don't come any prettier! IMO it's the nicest I've ever owned.

I'll post a photo in the show off forum as soon as I can get to it...

🔴🔴 STOCK 205 ANSCHUTZ BENCHREST 🔴🔴

I’m getting ready to start on something very different for me. One of my RFC friends has talked me into building him a walnut benchrest stock for his Anschutz 22. If you guys want to watch this build, you will need to go “Shooting Related, making and modifying “ section.

Here's a couple pictures of the finished stock.

🪀🪀 STOCK 206, CHARGER THUMBHOLE STOCK 🪀🪀

I'm getting ready to work on a very unusual stock for a 10/22 Charger. This is gonna be for one of my RFC friends. The drawing of the stock is just a starting point for me, I'm sure there will be some changes, but you can get an idea of what I'll be doing. He is wanting a stock he can shoot on a bench, something similar to a benchrest stock.

That Anschutz build was something very different for me, but I think it came out better than I expected. It should be a good shooter, with it being pillared and bedded.

Very cool! That reminds me of some of the custom TC Contender stocks from the '80's

Sometimes, what you draw on paper and the finished results is different. I’ve always said if I can put it on paper, I can build it, but when you’re creating something 3 dimensional it doesn’t always look as good as you think it should. We’ll see what happens, It’s gonna be a fun build.

🪀🪀 STOCK 206 🪀🪀

I got the stock inlet and installed the pillar. The back of the action is also bedded. I also drilled a small hole, just to locate the thumbholes length from the trigger. After the epoxy cures for a day or so, I'll start shaping the stock.

Merlin, you have a beautiful, ďone of a kindĒ setup. I hope itís a good shooter. Did you have to do any sanding to get the proper fit?
