Traded for a 541-S

I made a trade with my CZ 452 FS 17 HMR for a Remington 541-S in very much like new condition made in 1982. No fan of the 17 HMR. Very accurate but not my caliber of choice. We finally got together and he came down to an even trade from wanting me to pay difference. He wanted the CZ Mannlicher bad. My gun was LNIB with all the papers with it and the Remington has no box or papers with it. The bluing and the wood finish is very near perfect on the Remington and I was amazed that the white spacers have never turned yellow on this rifle. I believe I probably came out ahead on this trade.

Excellent trade! That wood looks much better than average for that model. It should be quite accurate. Keep us posted.

I had a 541s about the same vintage as yours. I've have my 452 American for several years and it' shoots 'with' my Remington but no better

541-S

Nice trade for that 541-S! You are going to love that rifle. I have a real soft spot in my heart for Remington 541-S rifles. I have a few.

Great trade; both shooters are happy. Bandit, that Remington sure is a nice one. Congrats.

Those are nice rifles. Worth a little money, too.

Nice! I’ve owned my 541S since about 1980 and love it.

I scoped the 541-S with a Leupold straight 6X in gloss finish to match the finish and bluing on the gun. I set the parallax for 60 yds so I think it will be fine in the woods. If I have to I can set it lower until the leaves are down. Hope to shoot it today if the wind lays down this morning. I only plan to do a few hunts for squirrel with this rifle. Without having swivels studs I may not even take it out for hunting.

Attractive rifles and usually good shooters, I've owned two S's and a T, just almost too pretty to hunt.

I've owned three of these and all were good shooters. Light weight and easy to carry. I don't particularly care for that glossy finish or the small bolt handle though, so all fell victim to a recent downsizing mode. Like their bigger brothers the centerfire 788 series, they tend to shoot above their price point.

The 541-S was my first higher end bolt action 22 rifle. Shoots good. I also have a 541-T, but honestly I have never shot it.
