Yesterday afternoon I visited Henry’s website and discovered hey have a Texas tribute rifle. Being a Texan I had to check it out. I found it rather gaudy and over done. I showed the picture to my wife and she thinks it’s pretty. She is a New Mexico gal so I will have to make allowances.

If they would have left off all the stars and made the “Texas” lettering much smaller I could like it.

I've noted the same thing on their Boy Scout tribute rifles....they seem to take it a few steps too far on otherwuse nice looking rifles.

I spent six weeks in Roswell in the late 1980's. The jokes about Texan's are funny and non-stop there. You two are peas in a pod.

I can not remember the recent model that Henry put out but it had what was supposed to be an eagle. Most of the rifle was nicely done if a little over the top but the eagle was definitely third grade art. No offense to any more talented third graders.

If you question her taste just remember she married you.

I do have to agree with you on gaudy. They seem to go too far.

You want jokes about Texans, go on up to Ruidoso. I canít really blame then considering until this year the are covered up with them during horse racing and skiing seasons. The gas station is gone now but there used to be one that had a big sign inside that said, ď I know you can get it cheaper in Lubbock but you are in Ruidoso now, babyĒ.

As to my wife choosing me: She has excellent taste in everything except guns.

Isn't it great?

In this day of fewer American firearm products and zero customer service that we even HAVE a company like Henry to criticize for not doing it exactly as we would like?

Let's see, what other American company makes a production lever action .22? (Or gives away a ton of them for various charitable causes?

It was a harmless post however as someone who's seen first hand the VERY quiet generosity of Henry I found it a bit offputting

Yesterday between Manna Market Clients a couple of non-shooters wanted a good thumbnail sketch of 2nd Amendment rights, a recent Texas transplant to our congregation gave 'em as good a summation as I've ever heard. You Texans have got your stuff together on the 2nd Amendment or at least some do.

A simple solution: if you don't like gaudy rifles don't buy them!

They always go "just a little" too far.
