You may have seen my gift card dilema post. Anyway, I have $325 in Bass Pro gift cards

Do I ....

Buy an over priced 10/22 slim forend rifle with FO sights I cant stand ($260+tax)

Buy an over priced ($300+tax) Charger that Im not sure I have a use for

Buy over priced 9mm ammo now

Sit on the cards and hope I see a sale on something I do want/need

I would wait. Who knows what might show up on the used rack that might catch your eye?

Just me, but I would not use the cards just to use them.

Bass Pro is overpriced on just about everything. I would wait for that sleeper bargain that may come along.

I may not like the Bass Pro prices but at least, having been in the business for many years, I can understand them. I don't think they are overpriced considering everything.

If you don't already have a 10/22 I'd grab that.

Save the $$$ for something you really want.

I had almost $400 in gift certificates to Cabelas and had better use of the cash elsewhere. I bought a Leupold scope they had a major sale on and a marine vhf radio from their bargain cave that was almost half off. I sold both on ebay in a matter of days and made an extra $150 off the deal.

Just a thought if you're willing to put a little effort into it...

I'd either browse the used gun sections for an oldie but a goodie or wait for an ammo sale. They do have decent sales from time to time on centerfire ammo. Not frequent enough but it does happen.

Or get something that makes shooting more enjoyable. Spotter scope, bag rests, those self healing bouncing reactive targets, spinners, cleaning supplies, parts for a project, etc etc. I don't know about you but when I have a decent chunk I totally forget about what I would really use frequently and jump to a gun first. Hence the above list, I'm missing the first three because of that.

I had no expiration date on the BP cards I used on the RWS R50 ammo that arrived today.

Wait. A gift card is the same as money to me. If I wouldn't buy it now if I had cash then I wait till I want something or the price is right.

I know my local BP does not carry used guns, are your guys different? Several people mentioned watching the used rack.

They have a few things I want. But Im not willing to pay the price even with someone elses money. A 10 round 10/22 mag is $30 !

I held onto a BP gift card for almost a year until I saw a sale on some .22 ammo and used it for that.

I would keep an eye out for the rare bargain on something I could use.
