200 yard work 22LR 452 American LH Boyds Pro Varmint Stock

I was at my local range on 1/18/16, doing a little work with my LH American:
CZ-452 American 22LR, Left Hand
Boyds Pro Varmint Stock Pepper Laminate; Adjustable cheek rest (as manufactured)
Vortex Viper HS LR EBR 6.2-24 X 50
Rifle Basix 52
DIP
Aluminum Mag Well
Murphy Precision 25 MOA Stainless Scope Base Adapter (Thank you Cameron)
Burris Signature Zee Rings High
Vortex Scope Level (mounted on the right side)
Harris Swivel Bipod, 6"-9"
Lucky, Black, American Flag Hat from Optics Planet

Ammo: Fiocchi Winter Exacta (first lot ending in "A"; sorted by rim thickness)

I shot this rifle in competition for the first time, on January 16th and had an epic score failure. It was a shakedown run. I had shot the same lot number ending in B and, being a little sleep deprived, I assumed the elevation dope would be similar on the "A" lot.

It was a little wet and foggy on the morning of the competition and my spotter could not see where my sighters were hitting. I scored zero turkeys at the 150 yard line. I shot the rest of the competition, 200; 50; and 100 with the "B" lot ammo, which I had exact dope on.

January 18th was good weather with no wind to speak of.
I posted my targets at the 200 yard line to get a little data with the “A” lot Winter Exacta. I started out plinking in the dirt at our short turkey berm at 150 yards. Then I worked on the targets posted at 200 Yards.
The first two targets were stapled to a purple file folder, for cleaner holes and less tears. I posted the third target directly on the target backer, where there were not many holes yet.

I shot the top half of the first target to make a few adjustments. I shot several groups with reticle set kind of high. That is why I was missing the silhouettes on game day. When I decided I had settled down, and was in the groove of it, I decided to shoot at the bottom of the center vertical line from the bench on the bipod.

The second target was on the bench with bipod. Third prone.

Target 1 measured 1.16”, center to center. The 5th shot barely hit the paper and was through the folder (bipod, bench).

Target 2 measured 2.24”, center to center (bipod, bench).

Target 3 measured 1.14”, center to center (bipod, prone).

This session still has me smiling. I just had to share it.

I came across another CZ target from a more recent shooting. It's not quite as good as my best but it's very close. It's really hard to get perfection measuring groups this small.

Shot today at 50 yards. 455 synthetic American .22lr, Lilja barrel, mueller 8.5-25x44 AO scope, Accushot medium rings, CCI SV from a cheap metal rest. Third time to shoo this rifle, and first time to shoot for groups. First time in my life I've broken into sub 1". Hooked.

This was from some ammo testing I did earlier in January.

CZ 452 Silhouette, Weaver V-16, Norma TAC-22, five-shot groups at approximately 50 meters.

Here's my most recent "best group"...

That's five shots, standing off-hand at 50 feet.

It was my second five-shot group warming up for my 50' silhouette practice targets. I was completely surprised when I ended up with a one-hole group.

My stock 455 THV off a rest outdoors @ 50 Meters.
Mueller 8-32 @ 30
Do 5 5shot groups on one card and you will have a true representation of your aggregate accuracy. This gun agg. is 0.236

My method is to use an RBA 250/25X target. I warm up and sight in on the five sighting in bulls at the top of the target. Then I shoot a 5-shot group into each of the 25 scoring bulls. That totals three boxes of ammunition in total. By averaging the 25 scoring groups, I get a very reliable picture of what a particular rifle will give with a specific ammunition.

Sometimes changing ammunition will give dramatically different results. When I changed from SK Standard Plus to Eley Match with my Remington Model 37, my group sizes dropped by over 1/3rd in average size. That was not particularly good news considering the cost difference between the two brands of ammo.

Using a green monster or the like is a good idea.
I dont think that most on here try for aggregate/averages, they usually post there best group...which wont tell them there true accuracy with the rifle.

I understand that. I just thought I should comment on the suggestion you made regarding 5 groups for average.

A single group is a nice thing to hang on the wall or post on-line. One day, shooting my Martini MK II with target sights, I made a rather fine group that looks like two shots, though it was five shots. I was very pleased but not so pleased when I could never do it again.
