Ok Ops told ya I'd have a posting in a couple days about a new cheap shooter. well here it is.
before anyone starts talking about me ruining a fine old rifle, think again. this was a parts guns shall we say and all the parts weren't even there. it wouldn't load via the tube (missing/worn parts), front sight was missing parts and the blueing is shot.
so here is what I am starting with.

Go for it Que, can't wait to see what you come up with. You did a very good job on the first one . I'm sure you'll do just as good on this one.

hey thanks rigger. just getting my pics ready to post up. if anyone needs some Mossberg 46B parts let me know. I plan to eventually refinish the stock and try selling it but the only other parts I'll be using are the barrel, rcvr, bolt and trigger grp.
the rifle is designed for short, long and long rifle. I figured that leads to a sloppy chamber so I'm fixing that. had it not been for that decision this would be much easier yet I want to learn a little so that chamber just ain't going to cut it....I cut it haha

here is the barrel shank after stripping down the rifle.

notice how the .22LR rd just drops right into the chamber.

well lets fix that by cutting some of that chamber off the shank.

I cut .4" roughly off the shank.

after cutting that off I needed to ream a chamber in the bore. used a "match" reamer for that.

here is the result.

as you can see there was quite a bit of difference in how the rd seated when dropped into the chamber.
now how to get the rcvr/bolt back into position so it'll fire the round? easy enough as I've done this to a factory 10/22 barrel before. relieve about .4" down the outer of the barrel to get it back together.

I cut a groove around the dia of the barrel eye-balling to approx depth.

then I cut and ground and filed until it would fit together. I lined up the rcvr to the barrel, marked it and drilled a new recess for the bolt that secures these parts together.

now I understand this ain't the purtiest job ya'll have ever seen but understand I have no mill or lathe.
it took a bit of fitting/filing to get it to where the rd would extract but I got it going, it fires and extracts.

ok so here is the barrelled action back together. notice the factory TG is adj. I'll be going over the TG later and cleaning it all up along with the rest of the metal.

and I plan on doing a rigger trick and mount this into a 10/22 stock. this stock I had already modded and never finished it. there are 2 other ones like this floating around out there.

that's all for now. I had to be sure I could get it to fire and extract before I did anything else with it or do these postings.

I'd like to see Que leave it as a tube feed. Wouldn't be to hard to accomidate the tube magazine.

JB and Bondo will work wonders, LOL.

a single shot it shall be. I think I've about become converted myself on single shots for the bolt actions. I guess it wouldn't be too difficult to do but I'd need some replacement parts for the feed area. heck if I were to do that I'd refinish the factory stock and put it back in there.

anyone have the parts I need?

Going to do a single shot feed deal? I'd be interesting in seeing how that whole process works, I'd guess you'd have to modify the bolt to make that work.

Mr. O in the current plan I have for it the rds will be loaded individually by hand. basically turned the tube fed into a single shot.

Gotcha. I been shooting my 511 as a single shot that way... my dumbarse broke the mag catch the night before going to the range. Then I got the bright idea to try to weld it back together with my Mig, while forgetting I had it on highest heat and burned right through it. Least I took it off the gun first.

I was thinking of possibly rechambering the 511, but I doubt I will because nothing shot great that day. Wind was really bad and even the CM-2 wasn't holding good groups. I will say the Marlin was really spot on, shooting one hole groups at 50 using the peep with the new Lyman 17 globe. I can't figure that one out with its trigger being silly.

Anyway, this thread is about you and your project. Good luck with it! Judging by your last project gun, this one will be nice too.
