Stock 158 Walnut Sporter

Log in to see fewer ads
I started working on a new stock this week. The stock will be similar to number 154, except this one will be for a 17 inch barrel. My inletting is finished and I installed a pillar. I like to let the epoxy cure at least 18 before I unscrew the action from the stock. That way the receiver is square to the face of the pillar and everything fits exact. If I do get any movement of the receiver, I'll try to fix that before moving on to shaping the stock.

Is that a 20" barrel shown in the pics or a 17"?

Itís a 20, I donít have a 17. The forearm is about 1 1/2 inches shorter. I think itís gonna look ok.

Thanks, I have a Feddersen 16.25" barrel, so I was wondering. Looking forward to seeing pics of the end results.

Here's a few more pictures of my progress so far. The piece of tape on the barrel marks the length of a 17 inch barrel.

I'm about finished sanding the stock. Here's a few pictures of my progress so far. Looks like this stock will have some nice grain, at least, I hope so.

Here you go! I received this stock today and just got it mounted.
I couldnít be happier with it. Gorgeous stock with great figure and a very tight fit with my barreled action.
Outstanding job Larry! I am a VERY satisfied customer!
