CZ 527M Carbine Changes??

Log in to see fewer ads
Found a NOS CZ 527M in 7.62x39 with the standard front blade/rear sight sitting on the rack in my LGS. Bought it. This is one fine rifle...I'm sure ya'll have seen the reviews also. Does anyone know if CZ changed anything else on the current version 572M? I think the stock finish is darker and of course the sights have changed. Any other difference(s)?? I think the CZ model SKU remains the same, but I'm not certain.

I believe the sight change was about it, on the original carbines the barrels had a buttress to mount the rear sight on. The earlier stocks have a relief for this buttress and the new stocks dont. I think that's about it. The new sights are nice. I prefer the current front sight to the older one.

The machining on the receiver of all new 527s is different - it has angles instead of curves. I prefer the original shape.

That model gun as been around a very long time. It was built by Brno back in the day with a different model number designation.

Tnx JMK...interesting.. I didn't have access to both older/newer models to compare side-by-side at same time, but this "older" 527 had beautiful lines and made me buy it!! I've walked past a "newer" 527 in a shop recently...for some reason I was able to pass on it. Perhaps the appearance changes are nuanced but are such that visually I preferred the older version. I will admit my 63 year old eyes have a little trouble with that front sight; perhaps the red fibre would be nice to have. Love this 527 carbine.

At some point the bolt handles were changed to allow lower mounting of optics. I dont remember when that change was (mid to late 2000'2 maybe?), but if yours has the old style, you can get the new style from CZ pretty inexpensively. If it doesn't already have it, its a worth upgrade.
