Sounds like you have a Ruger. I pretty much solved a few Ruger problems by selling off some, rebarreling one and my 77/22 is the only one that has quite decent accuracy.

Any length shell casing other than a long rifle will cause damage to the chamber and barrel throat. This damage can produce your results!

It would take many, many thousands of rounds for any 22 ammunition to seriously wear a normal barrel. It's a 22, not a 22-250!
There are lots of more likely causes. I'd look to the scope first.

Yeah, but I want to see what the new Ruger barrel did for this customer.
Same person, assuming the same type of rest and scope and all that, with the only difference being a different Ruger barrel with a better crown.
His 6-inch groups shrank down to..... what?
I want to know.

First off I would like to appologize for not replying to your guy's questions sooner, it has been hectic around here.
My groups are about 2" after getting crown fixed, floating the barrel, and playing with the torque on the action screw.. Oh yeah, I also put a p-pad about half way down the barrel..
Thanks for such a great site!!
P.S. I dont shoot paper much, and I am also using federal bulk pack right now, so the "groups" are good enough for my plinking purposes..

If you move the pad around, you might even find a sweet spot. My stock barrel, floated with a pad about 1 inch from the forend, shoots about 1" with Wally World bulk.

Is this the stock you have?

If so that isn't exactly the type of stock I would expect would beve the worlds best accuracy. Have you tried shooting groups with the factory stock?
