Could Use Some Help Decoding Mfg Date

I know that Marlin no longer exists, it is really Remington. That being said, here's my problem. Long, long ago I purchased from Marlin (when it WAS Marlin) a Mod 60 in stainless. I can't be sure WHEN I purchased it. It could be decades. I put it in a closet and NEVER did ANYTHING with it. (No, I'm not losing it. I had other "toys" to play with.)

At any rate I know there's a way to get date of mfg from the serial number but I don't know how. Hope someone can clue me in. The serial number is 8 numbers, no letters.

Subtract the first two numbers from 100 and that will give you the mfg. date.

Thank you very much. It appears my new/old Mod 60 is 26 years old. I was right about it being decades. (You can't say I'm one of those guys that rushes into things.) I think I'll dust it off and fire it.

At that age, & dependant on how it was kept...
might be time for a new buffer...they degrade over time,
and around 25 years is the mark for getting rid of a white one
to replace with a new black one from Marlin or other sources

If your trigger feels heavy, and you clean white plastic shavings out of it, there's yer "Toss & Replace" marker!
