The H/R office at my place is the crying room.

I've been the subject of more than one H/R investigation concerning something I supposedly said. In each case, the results were "inconclusive."

I love 'em.

On one Benny Hill Show a lady says "Shall we join him in the dining room?"

Benny replies "Why? Is he coming apart in there?"

I was in a budget meeting once when one of the better educated analysts used the word, "niggardly". One of the African-American women in the room started screaming and threatening HR action. I made a note to extinct that word from my vocabulary.

Perhaps you should have educated her as to its meaning.

Yes, I looked it up.

Anyone ever been to an Amazon, Google, Linkedin or Salesforce office or Corporate Headquarters? It would blow your mind. They are like a giant playpen with all types of snacks, games, pool tables , ping pong, sleeping pods , its crazy. I was once asked to put a card reader on a beer tap, to limit the beers in the lounge to only 2 per person. I kid you not.

"Mock". That is a word that should be left in the 19th century where it belongs - although I might make an exception for mock turtle soup. I mock Mock, and I especially mock Mocks, which means I mock mock Mocks!

But I would never mock the Mock Chicken legs they used to serve us in school. The kind that came with the semiliquid brown gravyish stuff. I thought it was gooder than chicken.
(sorry for the thread drift, got carried away.)

Grew up with the phrase such and such "give me the vapers". Can't use that anymore since everyone seems to be "vaping" here, there, and everywhere.

Salesforce has several big buildings around this city. What's inside is one thing, my concern is the streams of people coming out staring at their phones. Can't be off the thing for a hot second. Have never walked by when I didn't overhear someone conducting a meeting while walking down the street. Unreal world we now live in.

I remember there was a Trenton city Council member who said it was his job to be niggardly with the public’s money. He was forced to resign by people accusing him of racism. All because they couldn’t bother to look up a word they didn’t understand.

I understand the kids' current riposte to our unsolicited advice or criticism of their lifestyles is "Ok Boomer." Sort of like "Whatever" from the early 2000s with a slight insult tacked on.

Vaseline

All trademarks at one point or another that slipped into common parlance.

Don't even ask what a frizzen, a topgallant, or an adz is. Ain't the language grand?
