But I know nothing about ammo availability.

Well, I do know a little bit about ammo availability,,,
Neither of the Wal-Marts or the Academy in my town have any.

I've Googled the cartridge and am intrigued by it,,,
But I don't want a rifle that uses Unobtainium Ammo.

What's the skinny on HM2?

Readily available from online retailers. Usually hornady or CCI ammo. Only Eley has exited the 17 Mach2 market.

Thanks rwgray76,,,

I checked my go-to ammo dealer as well,,,
They only have the Hornady 17 grain,,,
But it appears they have plenty.

My co-worker offered me the rifle for $120.00,,,
I'm gonna consider it for a while.

Thanks again for replying.

Nice little gun. My wife has the FV. Figure on replacing or modifying the stock for a scope. Drop is for irons. A 6"x6" piece of kydex can be used to make a comb for the factory stock. Just heat and bend over a piece of pipe or the stock.

Readily Available

Go to Ammoseek.com. Use the search engine. It is readily available at a good price (then figure in shipping). I have never shot the HM2 but I had a .17 and it was a tack driving round. At the price the seller wants, I would jump on it. It's $120 off the price of a new one plush the FFL cost on top of that. It is a great deal as long as it functions properly

Well, I bought the rifle,,,

Well, I bought the rifle,,,
Then turned around and sold it for $150.00.

I could not find one box of ammo locally,,,
I called several places in OK City and found a few boxes.

SGAMMO.COM has it but I hate ordering ammo,,,
I'm never home for the delivery,,,
It's a pain to track it down.

I didn't mean for it to happen that way at all,,,
But when I was at my range with it,,,
A member saw it and liked it.

I told him how I got it and he offered cash money on the spot,,,
I decided that I wasn't enamored with the rifle,,,
So he got a shooter he liked quite a bit,,,
I got a nice meal from the profit.

I call it a win-win.

Aarond, congrats on a nice flip. Somedays I wish I was back in Okie-land and out of Connecticut. Up here the two of you would have had to call the state and get an authorization number from the state to do your sale and transfer. It would have also required the buyer had a state gun permit and paperwork to be sent in to the state and the buyer's local chief of police. Remember that come election time.
