The more I shoot this old Savage Model 19 NRA the more I like it Manufactured between 1933 and 1946,
it's either 3 years younger or 10 years older than my 78 years. It's in better condition than me too........

Is the barrel of that rifle an extension of the action??

Yes, the barrel and receiver are machined as one piece. The Savage Model 23 and the Savage Model NRA Match with full military stock are machined the same way.
