I just received my grandfathers Hi Standard Model E and it has not been cleaned or fired in 20 years. I am trying to date it and disassemble it but I can not find any info.
Any help would be GREATLY APPRECIATED

I have yet to find the serial number but it says
Made in USA
The High Standard MFG CO
New Haven Conn
Patent Pending
.22 Cal
Long Rifle
HI-STANDARD
MODEL E

You should post general questions in the High Standard section that follows this one. This is the sponsor's forum, and is not generally used for general questions.

The serial number of your G-series model E is found in two places: below the trigger guard on the front grip strap and also on the right side of the slide just above the extractor. If you include the FULL serial number with your question, you'll get a manufacturing date.

To field strip the gun: (1) remove the mag; (2) lock the slide back; (3) while lifting the take-down lever, slide the barrel forward and off the frame; (4) depress the slide stop button and guide the slide slowly forward and off the frame. If the barrel refuses to come off, snap the slide forward several times while holding the lever upward, and it should dislodge.
