Marlin 99M1 who else has one ?

Brought home my latest Marlin yesterday - a late-model 60SS laminate stock.

It would have nicely accompanied the other Marlins that were lost in that tragic accident:

(2) 70P, includes 1 DU model
1-70PSS
1 Model 60 Alamo Anniversary edition
(2) 75C carbines
(2) 60's in ATI stocks

(2) Golden 65's
1 - 60 modified to load from a box magazine
1 - Western Auto Supply Revelation Model 120
2 or 3 more Model 60 parts rifles

And that's just the 22LR's. There's Magnum and centerfire stuff at the bottom of that lake too!

I gave my very nice example of the 99m to my exwife. She loves it.

We were still together at the time. When I brought it home I explained how I had wanted one for over 40 years and now I had a nice one. Her response?

"You might want to keep looking because that one is mine!"

Having tried to get her into shooting many times so I was happy to give it to her. Like many women she is a pretty natural shooter. Almost to a person I have found it easier to teach a woman to shoot than most men. Why.

Attention to detail.

Listens to instruction and follows up.

Most of all they do not let their egos get in the way! I was trying to teach one very competitive middle aged male to shoot. He not only tried to out shoot me (I had been shooting, a lot, for 35 years at the time) but he even argued with me about which finger to use on the TRIGGER! As far as I know that was the first and last time he ever shot a gun!

"Bandit" - from what I'm reading in these posts it seems that anytime you can get a 795, model 70, or model 60 for $200 you'd be CRAZY not to do it. Seems that between Marlin, Remington, and Ruger ALL trying to be cooks - the kitchen is a messed-up place to be. I'll say it again: $200 is a good price; better buy it.

Here's mine. 989M2 and 99M1. For some reason my 989 pic won't upload. Keeps have an error. Oh well.

Great looking rifles and lists of rifles!
I'm always on the lookout for a 57 and a Crown Prince. Definitely jealous of some of the other rifles!
