Look at the D.I.P. picatinny rail accessory.

It will give you an increased range of mounting positions, and you won't have to mess around with dovetail mounts and all their issues.
Notice that my scope is mounted a full inch further forward than any dovetail mount could achieve.
If you really want to shoot
way out past 100yds, they make a 25 moa rail.
So pick up the DIP rail, and a pair of Leupold PRW mounts (or any picatinny rings) of the correct hight and you'll be good to go.
