After many years of watching and wanting, my downsizing plan is starting to pay off. I parted with a bunch of rimfires and scopes to build up the funds needed to purchase a Remington 40XB sporter repeater. Many thanks go to a couple of RFC members that helped make this happen. It will only get the best ammo! The stock will look much better in good light!
You lucky dog, always wanted one since I handled one back mid 90's. Only one I have ever seen in this part of the country. Won't ever happen though. That is a pretty sucker, just get them thar Thunderbolts away from it.lol
I always wondered how many 700BDLs Remington would sell if they would make them. A friend of mine went to the predecessor of the Shot Show at McCormack place in Chicago in 1975. He had a friend who worked for Remington and the guy showed him a prototype of a mag fed 700 in 22lr.
I guess that Bergara will find out before Remington how good an idea it is.
Like many of you folks I have wanted one for many years. Should have bought one 35 years ago but went with a 541T so I could use it for smallbore hunter class silhouette. The 40X sporter is to heavy. Then I started participating in the RFC forum and of course started buying some rimfire rifles over the years. Ended up with to many (is that even possible?) and they were not all getting used. I am getting to the age where I started thinking about downsizing the collection with the idea of less rimfires but higher quality with the 40X sporter repeater at the top of the list. Mentioned the plan to a few RFC friends and about a year ago started selling a few things and saving most of the money with the goal of acquiring a 40X. Got a call from an RFC friend who put me in touch with another RFC friend that was willing to part with this rifle. These things are hard to find and I had a hard time walking by some other nice rimfires at gun shows and shops but I managed to mostly stick with the plan. Now I have to get to the range and shoot this beauty! Lots of good people here on RFC and I got lucky and the plan all came together over a year or so and with help from 2 RFC friends the rifle found me. I am down 14 and up 3. It has been fun.
