Talking Love that Model 41!

This fall weather has been absolutely great for exercising my 3 favorite .22 semi-auto target pistols. First off, with my 76 year old eyes and my flinching issues, I'm not a very good shooter, but love punching holes in aluminum cans. I really like my Victory SW22 pistol. Easiest magazine to load, stainless steel easy maintenance, and with the TK trigger, Halo, and Bullseye thumb rest grips, very nice to shoot. And then My Ruger MKII stainless 5.5 in heavy bbl target, magazines not quite so easy to load, not quite as easy to clean, but with the Volquartsen accuracy kit, better trigger pull than the Victory. And then today I got out the Model 41 5.5 in heavy bbl pistol and man, it's a whole different experience. Better trigger pull and sights than the other two pistols, and the balance is just superb, and I can definitely shoot it the best. God forbid that I would ever have to make the choice to keep only one, the last to go would be the Model 41.

Thanks for letting me ramble on.

I have a tricked out Buckmark that I haven't shot since I got my model 41. Are we model 41 snobs?

It's not snobbery when something is demonstrably better.

41 is a very nice pistol! But I can shoot my ruger Mark ii competition target better than my 41 ! I prefer grip angle on Mark ii ! I did have to do trigger upgrades on it though!

If you're interested there's a cheap little doodad that makes Ruger .22 magazines much easier to load. I don't want to post a link to it because I'm not sure of the rules, and too lazy to look them up. Easy to search and find, though.

I like my model 41 the best also.

They make them for the model 41 too. I have both and they work just fine. Lots of places sell them, including Amazon. Just a little piece of plastic.

Yes, I prefer the grip angle of the MKII pistol also and almost like shooting it more than the model 41 but I was shooting more accurately with the model 41 on this day.

Beautiful day today took several center fire pistols to range . Thinking of your post I took my Smith 41 with me I swapped OEM barrel out and put a Clark barrel on it and a dot sight sure does make it easier for my eyes to shoot . Very enjoyable day shot pistols in afternoon and shot skeet about 5pm.

I have always had trouble with 1911 grip angle! The slant grip angle just feels more natural to me! And the make a loader I bought one from tandemkross called macfaden I believe works excellent! But I still like the 41 too just a very nice pistol! One of the nicest looking guns the make

Hey Turtle-Tim that is your barrel on top of that 41 in the post above yours. It is a good barrel.

Webfoot, I love that model 41 with the Clark barrel! Sounds like you enjoyed a perfect day. I struggle on days like this, do I enjoy some fair weather shooting, or do I get some jobs done getting prepared for winter? Shooting wins, there will always be time to get that other stuff done later!

Comes a time when enough is enough and you got to do what you got to do and that is I GOT TO GO SHOOTING! It is hard to say which 22 pistol I like best. That dot sight on the 41 has a lot going for it. I have a hi -standard with a LSP barrel and dot that is a hoot to shoot too.

Oh yes, the High Standard. I owned a Military Grip High Standard Citation that I bought new in 1975 and it had the nicest trigger of any handgun that I ever owned, period. Unfortunately I no longer own it.

I had a HS Citation that was very nice and the trigger was great on it. But I personally just like my Mod 41 (1973 Vintage) better. You can't go wrong with either however I find the 41 magazines less temperamental and I also shoot the Mof 41 a little better.
