I agree with the MKII being my favorite. Actually, I have owned both MKI and MKII Rugers, but never a MKIII or MKIV.

I have owned MKI and MKII's for over 50 years. I have two MKII's now a long barreled target and a Comp. Target.

I have owned S&W 41's, Colt match targets, High Standards and many others. I still have my two MKII's and will not sell them. They are by far the most accurate and best made 22 pistols I have ever owned.
I think there are a few that the barrels are more accurate but the guns are not. The Rugers have them all.

The thing I really love about the Ruger semi-autos is the grip angle. I have a Smith & Wesson model 41 that I like and have owned both High Standards and Colt Match Targets, but find myself shooting my Rugers the most. The only other pistol to give my Ruger pistols some competition for my shooting time is my Smith & Wesson Victory, which I have modified with aftermarket trigger and grips.

I've owned ALLOT of MK series pistols in all series. The MK II has always been a favorite. IMHO, they excel in design simplicity ( and maybe even accuracy) over the other models. I still keep a 5.5" target version with open sights ( and rib) and and a 6.78" Competition that wears either a 3-6x32 scope or a red dot (depending on the need of the day) . Both shoot better than I do. Here is the 5.5. It goes way back some 30+ years with me.

Very nice! Can I ask the source of the rib?

They were from Poly-Choke, and fasten on with an epoxy (or similar adhesive).

Looks like Numrich has the old stock:

eBay is also an option, especially if you’re a “thrill of the chase” type person.

I’ve got one patiently waiting for my KMK512. I’d like a set of gray/black laminate target grips (think VQ Volthane shape). With the vent rib, I always thought it’d be fun to put together sort of a “Ruger Medalist” themed pistol.

Apologies in advance, to the Browning Medalist fans…

I have a Ruger Mark ii competition target stainless since 1994 and I have taken it part every other time I clean it ! I still need a rubber mallet to separate lower from the upper! So I would not worry to much about taking it apart to clean! I did add volquartsen accurizing kit to it! And volquartsen extractor and firing pin that will help eliminate miss fires!

I agree that the MKII is a great pistol. I bought my Government model many years ago and love the way it shoots. I finally put a Volquartsen accurizing kit, extractor and firing pin in it yesterday. Nice crisp 2.5lb trigger now. I canít wait to try it out

I love my Mark IIs, too

I had 4, but , I passed on on the first, a 6 inch STD taper, with a scope, to my shooting buddy, a young guy , who needed a Mark II.

I have a VQd slab side, and a Govt and 5 inch , that are waiting for their VQ parts .

Still my favorite. Lipsey’s 5.5 deluxe slabside.
