Just for fun.... some info, standings history, shout outs, and other stuff that won't clog up the scores thread.

Current "King of the Hill" in each class:

10 yard irons:

BigBluegill 236-5X
Gwelo 235-7X
Mike3838 234-8X
kingrider 233-5X

It's tight at the top, so I included Kingrider in this 1 point battle.
Shout outs to Ynned (match organizer) and Mike 3838 for shooting the 10 yard irons every month so far.

10 yard optics:

kingrider 246-10X
Gwelo 242-9X
Purple Bikerr 224-3X

Kingrider didn't leave much on the table for anyone else here. But then again, a 250-25X is possible!

15 yard irons:

Gwelo 220-2X
Mike3838 213-3X
Tominboise 206-1X

Shout out to Tominboise, who holds the 3rd place spot with a revolver from 1935!

15 yard optics:

Gwelo 224-5X
jsenick 207-X
RodJ 164-1X

Gwelo on top of this one too, so currently he is king of 15 yards

25 yard irons:

zukiphile 217-3X
ClayBelt 191-1X
jazzsax8 190-0X

Claybelt submitted his first entry in the last few days and wound up in 2nd spot. Major props to Zukiphile, who beat all 25 yard optics scores except the top spot with his 25 yard irons score.

25 yard optics:

kingrider 221-4X
Gwelo 214-1X
jazzsax8 196-2X

Some of those names look familiar...

So far it seems like a good variety of hardware being used, and some fine looking pistols in the mix. With so few women here on RFC, taking a wife, GF, kid, grandkid, or friend out might make them the first "Queen" on the scoreboards.

Lots of good shooting going on out there.

Bob has graciously waved his magic spreadsheet wand and sorted out some interesting info. Excellent work, Bob. Thanks.
Since I simply edit the scoreboards each month, some data is lost; specifically the post numbers and weapon and ammo from previous months. I do keep a text file of post copies if anyone is interested in that info. I can email them or post them if anybody wants.

Thanks again, Bob!
Later,
Dennis

Well it was no magic wand. My spreadsheet foo is weak these days. I still have a couple things kicking my butt. I might expand it more for some other stats, like consistency (great for great shooters, hopefully lower for those still improving more), percentages of highest to other shooters, and whatever else I can think of.

But for now, I've got more Googling to do just to perfect some of the info I've got!

Once I get things sorted out better I'll post some screenshots.

Emagcon (Ed) moves to #2 spot in the 15 yard irons with a score of 216-1X in June. He's not far from making a move on the top spot, and hopefully his range shut down due to fire threat will break and he'll be after it again.

Zukiphile takes the top spot in 25 yard optics, with a score of 222-2X. He nudged out Kingrider by a point. With a one point race, it's tight up at the top!

Well done by both.

Not a lot of entries for June. Warm weather must be keeping people out of the sun at the range, or is it in the sun somewhere else?

And just for FYI... this thread is open for just about anything. The stats I'm going to post here to keep from too many posts in the main thread. But any and everyone can use it for whatever..... seek or give advice, show off your pistols, ammo questions, general banter.... no hold barred trash talk is fine too.

Just a feeler for my spreadsheet......

What data would people want to see? I'm trying to set it up to give shooters more in depth info than we could post on the monthly scoreboards. As time goes on, a person could look back and see what pistols they shoot the best scores with, number of entries, etc.

Right now I've got...

Shooter
Pistol
High Score
High Score # of possible
Average Score
Post # of high score
Ammo for high score

I was thinking of adding the the consistency % and maybe a couple other things if people want them.

The idea once I get this sorted out is to make it public for viewing, so if anyone wants to pull up their data on old scores or pistols they will have it available.

Did anyone catch any Olympics shooting this time? I had no access to most of it, so missed out except for some videos and such. Amazing what they do these days.

Show Low, AZ

15 yds iron

203-1x
Emagcon
Show Low
High Standard, military 106
Factory irons
Norma tac 22
44, 40, 39, 36, 44-1x

Second Knoll range opened after being closed for fire and recently flooding by the monsoon. My high standard felt better today, my K-22 was a little rough. Squeaked out a 199 with the revolver. Rusty!

Ed,

This is the wrong thread for scores. I started this one just for smack talk and such. But I'm going to copy and paste it to the other thread so it gets entered.

Good to see you out shooting the HS, I might have one soon.

Train like you will shoot.....

Sooo.... trying not to spam up the main thread too much, so I brought this here.

I was doing some dry fire with my newly acquired Victor the other day, and just out of the blue. <squeeze> CLICK And it hit me like a rock. It was so quiet I could not only easily hear the firing pin falling, I could tell the difference in the hardness of the two different practice rounds I was using. It was scary quiet.

And while this might be great practice for if I was out in the woods alone, it's not great practice that simulates the range I shoot at. I need some noise, some movement, and random amounts of each. THAT would simulate how it often is where I shoot.

The funny part is, that when it hit me, I realized how much time we spent in the military simulating stress, noise, and the realistic surrounding environment. Even at the range, we snapped it with loads of people around us, movement, etc.

I can't easily do much for random movement, but I can easily record a range session or two, or find shooting videos with enough audio distractions. As well as change what wasn't the same as real shooting... putting on my shooting glasses and ear pro, etc. Maybe put my phone up somewhere in the line of sight with video running or something too.

If I can create enough distractions, maybe next time I'll be able to completely tune out the John Wick wannabe types that I seem to end up next to some days. The last trip was just brutal at first.... I swear this guy had to cycle a pistol 5-6 times to make sure it was clear, was switching rifle to pistol, was running the target back after shooting at 5 yards, and whatever else he could do to create distractions.

Anyway.... If I do my dry fire in an environment of worst case range conditions, it can't hurt. And hopefully it will help.

For trash talk.... I've moved into the top 3 positions in both 10 and 15 yard irons. Time to make a move on 25 yards, let the leaders think they have me covered and then pounce.....

And a shout out to Rocinante who got some interest, found some targets, and managed to move into the #2 spot in 15 yard optics with his first submitted score. Considering that Kingrider is in the top spot, just coming close is effort. And actually for the Sept scores right now Rocinante is edging out Kingrider by a single X count. Solid shooting!

I suggest doing it while playing a video of "Saving Private Ryan" in the scenes from storming the beach at Normandy.

Real, real loud.

See what Rocinante got!

Maybe he'll be doing some pouncing himself!!!

These uppers were on clearance at Volquartson for $40 including the original Ruger carry case.

Oh great. Since I was shooting above my ability that day.........

I suppose you just inspired Kingrider to shoot for a new high number!!!!

(And demolish me.)

Lots of fun, though.
