I have been looking for a bunch of Hickorys for squirrel hunting for a long Time. On Monday I found a big Grove of hickories, I killed 10 squirrels. went back this morning sat down and killed 7 from one spot. And made some of the best squirrel hunting shots of my life. One where I could see only his eye and the top of his head above the eye.

Oh, no thanks. I don’t need that kind of pressure. 😆 RFC already has a member that’ll probably be at that match who shoots better than me. I did manage to shoot a perfect card my first card of my first match though. I’ll say this, it is much easier to shoot a perfect ARA factory target than it is to shoot a perfect GM using a sporter weight rifle with 9X magnification.

I even dream about it at night and wake up with another idea to try. Yesterday, I realized that I was hearing a difference in the report of the round and could tell when a shot wasn't going to be an X. I even tried to shoot some of the Tenex I have been holding for a coupe of years but it just didn't want to shoot right so i swiched back to my SK. If the market was there I would like to try some CenterX just to see if the consistancy is there. I have no secret other than I quit doing what I had always done and began to change things to make sure my rifle was as stable as I could make it. My current setup is giving me that so now I have to find the magic box of SK STD, just onec.
I would have been mad. It’s not the way I want to win. I want to win with a 250-?x. First I have to get a 249. That’s been elusive with a bit of backsliding.

This month the owner of the range passed away at 89. He was a Marine and a crusty old soul. All around nice guy that did not suffer fools, which in a good thing in the shooting sports. (Paging Alec Baldwin.) The family had a memorial service this past Saturday that was well attended. The range has been closed over a week but will open again tomorrow. I hope to get another GM Wednesday. The long term prospects for the range is in the hands of his four daughters. It runs on the honor system if you are not a member and the range is maintained by volunteers that are members. It’s worked that way for years. When able he would show up to check on things. I can’t predict the future but hoping for the best.

That's not good news on any front Mike. Sorry you and the shooting world lost such a fine person. I just hope the range will stay open, kinda in honor of the man. But the way things go these days, especially land down that way, people get dollar signs in their eyes and good things seem to go away. Best of luck with the target this week and hopefully you will be able to report that the range is safe as well.

Hope everyone is doing OK and it is just the social problems that are keeping folks from the range. Hope everyone can get back to the range soon and do some good shooting with the cooler weather.
I wish I was deer hunting now - First i was traveling with the wife for a week, then I tweaked my back for week, and now it's raining here in Idaho (Atmospheric cyclone - lucky us). I hope to get out the middle of this week and get a set of targets shot.

Great shooting on your target!

25 Yd October 2021 Official Targets

October proved to be a challenging month to get to the range. Regardless, this is a fun challenge and we appreciate all of Lee's effort and encouragement. Congratulations to the shooters who entered some great targets. We keep trying to get up to that level. The weather is changing and we may see snow by the end of the week. Not sure if we will be posting any more targets for 2021 as there are no local indoor ranges longer than 20 yards near us. If we don't get any more targets in this year, we wish you all a safe and happy holiday season and we will see you in 2022. Take care!

October 2021 Official Entry

Barely got this one in.

Essentially everything is the same. The one change for this month (other than going back to Eley Club) is that I shot this target in columns as it seemes easier using the bags for front and rear rest. Hope that works for folks.

All the best,
Peter

So hard to take photos of the bench at our club. The benches are in a semi-enclosed building and the range is open. There's no space to get a clear pic. Sorry about that.
