17 WSM ammo question

For those of you that have sent hundreds, or thousands of rounds down the barrel, What ammo has been the most consistent/accurate? I know it can vary greatly from lot to lot, and the gun, but wondering if one is consistently better than others.

The lot is a bigger factor than brand since all are made by Winchester. When you find American Eagle shoots better it is simply because it is a different lot # than the Win. or Hornady. I try to buy a box locally where there is a plentiful supply of that lot number and take it to the range with my rifle and chrony. If I like, I go back and buy more, if not I wait for another lot or go to another store. It costs more than buying online but IMO is better than having a thousand rounds that shoot poorly in my rifle.

I know it sounds crazy since it's all made by Winchester, but the American Eagle 20gr. shoots best out of mine.

I have two lots of American Eagle 20g that shoot very well..... until the Bmag heavy barrel gets some heat in it which appears to turn into a shotgun.

It also shot a sub .5" four shot group with a clean bore first flyer at 100yds, the next 3 groups opened up similar to groups 3-4-5 in the picture.

With this being a relatively new cartridge and Winchester being the only manufacturer,
all of the current 17 wsm is being made on the new Winchester wsm production machines.
If they maintain those machines properly the production quality ought to stay good enough
to produce a decent varminting cartridge. If Winchester lets the maintenance slide,
it has me wondering how long until we start seeing split necks and wild strays
becoming a regular occurrence, like it did with it's 17hmr cartridges.

I’ve shot about 1000 rounds through my Ruger 77/17. Tried Hornady, American Eagle and Winchester 20 gr ammo. The Winchester shoots best in my rifle. Recently shot some Win 25 gr and it shoots about the same.

I've had better luck in my Bmag with the 20gr vs the 25s, but......the lead free 15gr is the most accurate and consistent of all I've tried. 3300fps does a nice job on ground squirrels as well. Couldn't find it local, had to order through LGS. I will be ordering more for sure
