Wasnt there a recent article in one of the mags about new bullet choices breathing life into the ol .444?

Proly why this old thread got brought up.

My dad loves .45-70, myself have never been into rimmed cartridges.

You canít go wrong with any of the three.

I would pick the 45-70 because I already have brass, bullets, and dies.

As I have aged, I tend to purchase more common calibers. I do this for several reasons. Availability, cost, and even resale. I donít need Weatherby Magnums when any of the magnums based on the old 375 H&H do the job just fine.

The 45-70 has such history, from the old Trapdoor to the Marlins or even the Ruger #1. You can go from meek to wild.
