52 D Stock finish

Log in to see fewer ads
Hi all: I just picked up a 52 D marked US on the front left receiver ring. My question, is can anyone please post a picture of their 52 D stock that hasn't been messed with. The one I have was made in 1963, and the stock looks like any other GI linseed or whatever finish. Thanks for your help.

Jerry

Steve, you have got too many cool rifles. If you are running out of space you can send that one to my house...

I have a 52D US marked I got from the CMP and it has a typical military BLO or whatever finish. I have seen a couple of others and they were the same.

There are quite a few early U.S. Marked rifles that came with commercial finish stocks and no rear swivels.

Same here. My E stocks appear to be the same finish as in Steve’s photos.

mq1fx2 that's a nice picatinny rail set up to mount a modern optic. Is it custom, or available commercially? Would appreciate any info you care to share.

PJK--- Pretty sure that is a Ken Viani rail/mount combo. I don't believe that Ken is making any more of these currently. There is another feller RFC'er (Dokey) that has made a few "clones", I have not personally seen one of Dokey's rails so I can't comment on the quality or worksmanship. I can say that Ken's mounts are first class, I have two of them (one for a 52 and one for an HR12) and they are very well machined and anodized.

Thanks Trigershoe. I know of the Ken Viani rails, but had never seen one in the flesh or in a photo. Suspected I might find it was unobtainable, but one can only hope!

Yes, this is a Ken Viani mount he built for me 20 odd years back. I believe I have read that Ken had died?
