Nice work King,
If you have gotten this far, time to crank that scope up to 20X ! Focus on the crosshair and ignore the "increased" wobble, it is no more than it was at 15X.
I am waiting to see another 500 score here, looks like it may be soon with the way some of you guys are shooting of late.
I need to get out and shoot tomorrow. Thx for the inspiration !

One set of each distance today. Did these after practicing all three air rifles.

**** 25-YARD SCOPE ENTRY **** 1-18-20

SCORE: 491-19X
NAME: acorneau (Allen Corneau)
LOCATION: Bayou Rifles, Houston
GUN: Anschutz 1710
SCOPE: Leupold/Premier at ~20X
AMMO: SK Rifle Match
INDIV TGTS SCORES: 97-3X, 99-4X, 99-6X, 97-3X, 99-3X

Almost matches my PR from last month (491-24X).

**** 50-YARD SCOPE ENTRY **** 1-18-20

SCORE: 231-4X
NAME: acorneau (Allen Corneau)
LOCATION: Bayou Rifles, Houston
GUN: Anschutz 1710
SCOPE: Leupold/Premier at ~30X
AMMO: SK Rifle Match
INDIV TGTS SCORES: 45-2X, 45, 48-1X, 46, 47-1X

My second shot of the first bull was a meltdown of my follow-through, dropping the shot into the 6-ring. Otherwise kept all the shots in the 8-ring or better.

Looking at the calendar, these will probably be my entries for the month but there's a small chance I can get to the range on Friday (the 31st) so I'll keep these as "Practice" until then.

**** 25 Yd SCOPED **** 1/21/20
SCORE: 467 8x
NAME: dangerranger
LOCATION: Central CA
GUN: Marlin/Glenfield 25
SIGHTS: Scope Bushnell 4x12
AMMO: Federal AM
INDIV TGTS SCORES:93 1x,90 1x,94 1x,95 4x,95 1x

Having not been able to practice for awhile I was happy with this score.

I have a couple questions for the group.
Today I was shooting in bright conditions and cold temp [ about 40 deg]. I had to lower the elevation setting by about 12 clicks to center my groups. Almost no wind. What causes the rise in Point of impact from my previous settings? The last time I shot it was hot and I was in the shade.

And at what point does your choice of ammo start to effect your scores?
I'm using Federal AM, In the past this gun shot best with Eley Target [Yellow box]. I can't find a local source for target ammo. This being CA I can't order it on line either. So should I keep working on my technique until my scores seem to level off before looking for the best ammo in this gun? Or break down and order a large amount of Eley Target into my FFL? If I just order I won't get a chance to test it in this gun. What do you think? DR

Both sun vs. shade and hot vs. cold can change POI. Always a good idea to run some test shots at a sighter to make sure things are good before proceeding with shots for score.

And at what point does your choice of ammo start to effect your scores?
If you care where your shots are going then you're at that point.

Recently I recognized where SK Standard Plus was letting me down with one or two shots out of 10-15 that would drop a 1/2" at 25 yards and that was costing me points. I'm now shooting SK Rifle Match as my base line and I'll get some Lapua Center-X for the big matches.

If you don't mind loosing points because of your ammo then don't worry about it, but if you do then do worry about it. You're effort is worth the better ammo!

One 7, FIVE 8s
Oh well at least alot more 10s today !.

A steadier day for me (less coffee) My Best Hold today was a solid 9/10.
EVERY ONE of the shots outside the 9 ring was a definite "Blink & Jerk".
Hardest part of this game is keeping the brain engaged, mind over matter sounds like such a simple concept ! :)

'good follow through'
Yeah, I hear you Roy !
My nemesis on those rare days when everything else seems to be going well...
Like today.
What I have started doing is to make my F/T an active part of my actual shot execution, meaning that I do not separate it for something I do 'after the bang'. Instead I am looking at it like a continuous active guiding of the sight picture from the point where I begin the squeeze thru the point where the sights settle back on the target after the recoil. That seems to be helping me some.

creeping improvement...

Another Scoped attempt, Jan 23

Scope @ 32X
Aguila SESV

476-15X

95-94-96-98-93

One 7, two 8s

I'd say my BH today was a good 9.7, so no way I shoulda had those sub-9s in this set.
First 8 was a total not-ready trigger mistake.
Last bull had an 8 & a 7, thanks to my dear wife calling me to come in for lunch. Not her fault really, I just need to learn to maintain concentration better !

Cheers

A lot of "X's "in that one, and very consistent individual targets, just proves how difficult it is to make 480. Great shooting Bob.

Probably will be my scope entry, I need to move on to the irons.
Happy I was at least able to crack the 480 barrier, it's been so long...
