Rabbit meat is good eating, all I've had was very tender without needing parboiling or pressure cooking (like many squirrels do). Unfortunately I have not encountered any rabbits this year. Some seasons I'll see and try to kill several of them, but no luck for now.

Funny you say that but when I was a young man they were everywhere but now they are much scarcer. Buzzards and viruses are taking a toll.
In Britain I honestly think the wild rabbit is or was a wasted resource!

Yea havenít had rabbit in about 2-3 years... last one I got I shot with a 1911 at about 15 yards with a 230gr fmj...

We used to shoot dozens of rabbits here in NE Kansas. Now I almost never see one outside the city limits. But, do see many of their predatory enemies like hawks, coyotes, bobcats.

Even the coyotes and cats are gone since the hares disappeared in my hunting turf, for whatever reason.
