.....subsonics. Shoot great from my Brno.
I'm in the UK, do you guys see Winchester 42grn SS ammo?

Around 60yd zero, reticle post comes in at 100 or so.
The Winchester lasers come in with a 100 yard zero and reticle post around 150.

US Winchester has been on a decline for some time now. I tried the original 42gr bullets. The only thing they hit with regularity was the bottom of the trash can.

Maybe the subsonic are better...but I'd rather invest in a known product .

Sure, I heard bad things too regards the PowerPoint HV which is pretty much the same bullet and I stopped using their ammo a while ago except the laser, that has always performed for me.
Maybe they pulled their act together a little but as with alot of 22ammo it's very much a lot lottery!

Check the country of manufacture. The Australian made stuff shoots really well.
Sadly it is going out of production soon.

I shot some of the 42gr SS yesterday from a 597. Not impressed. Which is fine, I only bought 2 boxes, thank goodness.

If you want a good 42 gr sub-sonic load, Eley produces one.

I had acceptable performance from the 40g SSHP, but it threw a flyer about 7% of shots. That would open up a respectable .70 group to 1" at 50M.
I thought it was me, until I rented the bench with the permanent gun vise on it for testing.

I've gotten quite a lot of excellent Australian wine here in the U.S.

Shoots great in my Ruger 10/22

Clerke 16" barrel stacks them at 50 yards, hit around 1" low at 65 yd, and the knock-down power is amazing. The lead they use for it is VERY soft, so ground squirrels go pop when hit, and possums at the bird feeder basically just fall over dead from a chest shot, their internals liquified.

I'll have to see if the local Dick's still has some if they're going to be going away soon.
