Yep.

I have two cases of Lapua CenterX that I bought this summer, lot tested for my Anschutz match rifle. I could sell that ammo, make cash, and lose my most accurate rig.

Going the other way, buy a bunch of premium barrels and spend the money to have each one lot tested, buy a couple of cases for the best performers, and set aside the unused parts.

Decent rifle $700, decent scope $300 decent front rest and rear bag $300, decent ammo $100 brick. Thatll get you MOA. 1/2 inch groups at 50 yards. To cut that in 1/2 to 1/2 MOA, add 1500 for better rifle $500 for better scope, $300 for better rest, and $300 for better brick. After that, get a sponsor but you better be able to shoot under pressurebthumb:

Are you asking if more $$$ spent means more mechanical accuracy or a really accurate rifle means more value$$$

Perhaps the answer to this is to reverse engineer a $ to accuracy equation. But the equation is not necessarily a valid one. Shooters who spend the most money don't always (or often?) have the best accuracy.

To monetize accuracy, someone could become the smith or gunmaker who makes very accurate rifles and sells them all set up to shoot, complete with ammo, demonstrations, and shooting lessons where necessary. People might pay handsomely for that even if winning results aren't guaranteed.

Alternatively someone could learn to shoot so well and sell the rifles used to establish a top reputation. The cachet of the shooter's name and accomplishments may add a premium to the selling price. Guarantees shouldn't be offered.

9 out of 10 shooters will have a rifle built before they will buy a known good shooting used rifle for less $$$$.

I don't know what you want to do. Shoot in competition, beat that guy that always beat you, self satisfaction? Reminds me of when I took my 1966 Cooper to a speed shop as a kid. Said I wanted to go fast, the response was how fast seed costs money. Not having $ 200.00 I said $ 500.000 worth. The response was not very fast.

The senario of $ 3,000 for 1/2 inch sound right, but you have to be good enough too.
I think a lot of shooter have guns that shoot better than they do.

Well I guess I will start with the $2500 I planned on, And throw money at it from there. The build will be v22s action, shilen SM barrel, jewel 2oz BR trigger, mcmillen stock, harrell tuner, lapua or ely wichever it likes. Is this a decent start?

That's $$ to accuracy. The original question was accuracy to $$.

+1

That's a whole lot of "top end" hardware. You may want to consider a little bit better scope depending on how seriously you plan on shooting. Not that the T-36 is a bad scope (I own a few) it's just not something you necessarily want to be staring through for long periods of time.

Also just curious is this your first high end build? Have you shot competitively before? Do you plan on shooting competitively? Not trying to offend you but depending on your experience shooting you may find that that combination is more accurate than you are in which case you probably would be happy with something costing 1/2 - 1/4 the price.
