Does the 983 mag wood stock fit the XT22 mag rifles, both being box magazine fed? I believe I read somewhere the 25 Mag stock would work also but could be wrong, I was once before, LOL.

Maybe I should have asked which wood stock from what Marlin model will definitely fit a box magazine fed XT22 magnum rifle. I have seen some say this and then some say it doesn't without a lot of mods and then some say this model will fit etc etc. Thanks in advance and I hope this clarifies my question.

The 983 has a tubular magazine, while the 982 has a detachable box magazine, which style of XT series .22 Magnum are you trying to restock?

It looks to me as if the XT-22MTR and XT-22MSTR are equivalent to the 983 and the XT-MVSR is equivalent to the 982VS.

I believe it is a plain black plastic XT22M, 22 magnum, box magazine, 'standard barrel'.

The 982 and 917 birch or laminated stock would fit that barreled action, but you'd need to buy a trigger guard too, since the injection molded stocks have integral trigger guards. You might need to do a little grinding/sanding with a Dremel tool around the trigger and safety, but no more than an hour try and sand, try and sand, etc.

I put laminated 782 or 882 stocks, can't remember which, on a 982S and a 917S that I bought from GPC.
