22LR Ammo Test Day
Howdy folks,
I wrote up a report of some testing of 12 different brands/types of 22LR ammo I did over the weekend and I thought I would share my findings here.
The report is a bit long so I've put it together on a separate web page:
http://allencorneau.com/AmmoTest/Amm...est_Day_1.html
One detail I neglected to include was that the measurements were made from center to center.
I look forward to your comments and/or critiques.

Blazer is good stuff. Equal to Golden Bullets for me... in warm weather. My theory is that the was just doesn't do as well when it's cold. Golden Bullets are more universally reliable in warm and cold weather. My best ever group with bulk ammo was shot with Blazer in the summer.

Thanks for taking the time to put your tests together, looks about in line with the general reputation of the different rounds.

I appreciate the info. about the CCI Pistol Match showing that it tested the best individual group and group average.
I had previously asked about its performance compared to CCI Green Tag and didn't receive any replies.
Thanks.

It was the first time for me to shot the Pistol Match and I've never seen a box of the Green Tag to purchase, so I have no experience with it.
Also, I don't know why CCI would call this "Pistol" match. Don't know what would be different than something that would be geared toward rifle usage. In fact, according to the CCI website they have the exact same specifications:

If the Pistol Match attains a muzzle velocity of 1070 fps from a 4-6" pistol barrel, and the Green Tag does it from a 16-20+" rifle barrel, the Pistol Match propellant must burn a lot faster. I wonder how the chrono'ed muzzle velocities of these two from the same rifle barrel would compare?
The reason I have to ask is because I have probably never seen any "Pistol" ammunition at local gun stores, and certainly not recently.

It doesn't, the CCI website states, "40 grain lead round nose bullet at 940 ft/sec in a six-inch pistol (1070 ft/sec in rifle)".

I liked your test and I will say you are doing well if you were only using a red dot for this test. Unless I read wrong. Good shoot'n
