I hadn't seen any other notice of the events so here goes ... !

There will be a CMP event on the Pistol Range at the Chattanooga Rifle Club, on Hunter Road in Harrison, TN tomorrow morning, March 4th. Registration starts at 9 AM and firing at 9:30 AM. Match director is Don Moore - "Magical" here on RFC. There will be classes for "O", "T", and "Tactical" rifles and we usually get competitors of all types and sizes ranging from 10 to 90 years of age. If numbers warrant it we usually run a second match around lunch time ... basic coaching available for newcomers.

At the same time, on the Competition Range, there will be the first of this years NRA 50/100 yard Prone matches. Registration at 9 AM with firing at 10:00 AM

PS: So far no news as to whether there will be any Smallbore Rifle and Cowboy Rifle events on the schedule for the 2017 season .... will try to get more news later

Not too bad a turnout for the first CRC event of the year .... nine competitors braved the freezing cold and accompanying light breezes. Quite a few of the usual Out-of-State folk didn't make it, but two diehards from Alabama showed up and got their introduction to the game. Don, Magical, turned in a fine 592 to win the Tactical class ... myself, I managed a 589 - my best score ever - to lead the "T" Class. This was my first real attempt at shooting again following the two heart surgeries last Fall. Good to see Jim bring his gaggle of youngsters out for more fun ... they're progressing nicely.

Well folks, during one of our gabfests at the CMP match yesterday, I got the bad news that there will definitely be no Silhouette matches scheduled at CRC for the 2017 season ... right now effort is being applied to re-start them for the 2018 season.

Also got news of a "new"organisation, the ASSA - American Smallbore Shooting Association - and their plans to run National championships for Prone and 3-P competitors. Seems like someone is trying to make up for the declining interest of the NRA in competitive smallbore shooting events. The first Nationals seem likely to be held a couple of weeks after Perry ... although the initial venue has "moved way out to the East - in CT !
