Marlin 7000 - rough action?

Log in to see fewer ads
Hi,

I recently purchased a Marlin 7000. So far I like it a lot, it is very accurate (holes touching at 50 meters), light and agile.

When I pull the bolt back, it feels rough, does it get smoother with use? I've tried oiling the bolt and the top receiver, it does improve a bit.

Thanks,
Nicolas.

smooth ? it gets "better" after a few bricks. the 7000 has a few short commings, but its still a good rifle. it needs a good wooden stock.

im glad you like it. may i recommend a trigger shoe, to enhance trigger pull.

I clean-out the receiver and the Bolt-faces of my
Marlin-Semi-auto (Glenfield-60, 7000, 70pSS) and my Ruger 10/22s...
then use some (Hoppe's) GunGrease inside the receiver and along
the Bolt-faces... all seem to cycle just fine.
When needed (~~brick or two) wipe them out/off with a paper-towel
and re-grease.

The action isnt ruff, its just loose so it wont jam on you.I have one to and its real accurate,BUT for hunting I would go with the 60.The 7000 will out shoot the 60,but I find the 60 to be better balanced for off hand shooting, the wood stock probably makes a difference.MARLIN IF YOUR WATCHING MAKE US A WOOD STOCK,PLEASE! The action on the 60 and the 7000 is the same.
