Here we go for May

OY! What a month April was!
Still awaiting word from the range whether they'll reopen soon.
I'm waiting...

I hope you're all healthy.

*Until we return to normalcy and the shooting ranges are open for business, it's okay to shoot a pellet gun at 10 yards at the target of your choice (trigger time is trigger time). If you can shoot rimfire, please do. Some of us can't. I'm sure we'll do the best we can under the circumstances.*

Make a note of these, they will be the guide for all future Fun Shoots'
SmallCal.

RFC Fun Shoot; Classes and Rules
This Fun Shoot is for any RF cartridge rifle, to include the following, .22 RF, .22 Mag. , .17 RF.

All targets in each class are shot at 25 yards.

The (old) rules for Class 1 expired 4-30-09 and have been deleted. (This update to C-1 made 7-16 09)

Note that we will use three different classes of rifles for this shoot and from now on and these class rules will apply for all future Fun Shoots. Make a note of them.

(NEW Rules for Class 1 Fun Shoot as of 7-16-`09 SPECIAL ADDENDUM to C1 irons and scoped shoot. PLEASE NOTE, that from this date (2-4-2019) on forward the ammo used in this class is limited in price to $4.00 per box for 50 rounds.

This Class 1 Fun Shoot is reserved for beginners and novice of any age.

Targets will be generous and fairly easy to learn on.

Class 1. Box Stock HUNTING/PLINKING rifles only, NO target rifles allowed. Allowed modifications will be limited to the addition of a scope with variable power settings and shortening of the butt stock for fit to smaller shooters. Scope power will be assigned at the time of the shoot. Usually not more than 9X. Iron sighted rifles will use original sights or replacements like the original. Any rest is allowed except Machine Rest.
These modifications to this Class 1 shoot are implemented to allow older beginners and novice shooters to join in the Fun Shoot without the heavy competition of shooting against target type rifles and highly skilled shooters. Those rifles and shooters will go to Class 2 from now on. If you have questions, PM me direct. SmallCal

PLEASE NOTE, that from this date (2-4-2019) on forward the ammo used in this class is limited in price to $4.00 per box for 50 rounds.

SmallCal

(Unchanged)
Class 2; Modified Hunting/Sporting Rifles. Allowed modifications will be limited to the addition of adjustable scopes with the power setting assigned at each shoot, adjustable receiver sights, globe front sights, trigger modifications/replacement to lighten weight of pull but NO low end limit but must be safe. Barrel replacement of any design that doesn`t make your rifle exceed the weight limit of 10.5 lb. total weight. Stock modifications or replacement stocks that resemble thumbhole or sporting stocks which have a convex forend profile and horizontal width no greater than 2 inches wide are allowed.
If your Modified Sporting Rifle exceeds any one or more of the above limits, it will be in the higher Class 3 group.

(Unchanged)
Class 3; All of those rifles that were/are designed for the strict purpose of Bench Rest Shooting with unlimited modifications and all of those rifles that exceed any limits in the Modified Hunting/Sporting Rifle class.
This class can be divided into two sub classes of those bench rifles with scopes (unlimited power) and those with iron sights (unlimited type). This sight division will allow all of the super race guns to be included here.

If you are unsure of the class you should be in, go to the next higher class and state that on your score/target postings.
I do know that there will be some rifles that are so close to fitting into more than one category that its hard to tell where they should go. If in question, go up a class.

Post score as shown here.

Thanks.

Good shooting Stan! I am getting the itch for an airgun for when I can't get to the range.

Thanks Jack, I am liking the rifle so far. I've got about 600 rounds through the gun. Of the stuff I have tried, it seems to favor SK Rifle Match, with RWS Rifle Match or SK Flatnose Match close behind. Honestly, the difference is probably the loose nut behind the trigger.

Nice shooting gents. Robert, if you can find it, try a few boxes of SK Biathlon Sport.
My 452 and Tikka both do well with it. The latest batch I have is averaging 1070 fps through the Tikka, which likes faster ammunition. The older batch is about 1040 fps, the CZ loves it.

#19 ·
Will do, I'll see if it is in stock the next time I order.

BTW, I got one box of the SK Semi-Auto out of curiosity the last time I ordered ammo. It shot very good in my Performance Center TC R22. It is also on the faster side (I think they claim 1130fps in a 26" barrel). I may order a brick to play with in some other guns.

Nicely done, Øystein :t

Still no word of my range opening yet...

Nice going Øystein. :bthumb: The targets are tougher than they appear to be. And your right, heavy triggers don't help. I tried the hats yesterday and gave up for now. 3 shots were all 5's. The wind was at 25 all over the place and I was just wasting ammo.
I will try again on a calmer day. Stay warm over there.

Going to try them class 2 and 3 scoped this weekend. I put a 16x fixed on my rifle so I'm in class 3. My skill is class 1 [emoji23].
Anyway good shooting guys.
Are y'all adjusting scope to aim in between the nomes eyes or top of his hat for an aiming reference or just floating in the middle of the hat with bullet hitting point of aim?
Cheers
I'm going to mess with it this weekend. I need to find some good ammo. CCI SV is as good as I can find local.

I would adjust the scope dead on at 25 Kiler. I usually take a 3x5 note card and make little black dots with a magic marker to sight the rifle in. So POA is POI. If you go to shoot for groups, you can move the scope setting 10 clicks right so as not to destroy your POA.

That's a good target, Jack...:t

Went down to a favorite park. It was closed, due to the virus. One city away to the south. Parks in our city and one city to the north remain open :)

Gaaah! Might as well shoot something...

Wow, many contributors and exhilarating to see it

RFC Alias, leej, First Name Lee
Score w/bonus 100/100, Class I
Rifle Make, Tippman M4-22 , Aguila Super Extra 1130FPS
Weather Conditions, 68 WSW 18 MPH and gusty
Excuses, first rounds through it

What can I say about the trigger other than it sucks. Something like pull for a mile down a gravel road and then it breaks. This will need some help before the Appleseed in a couple of months crossing my fingers.
