Make a note of these, they will be the guide for all future Fun Shoots'
SmallCal.

RFC Fun Shoot; Classes and Rules
This Fun Shoot is for any RF cartridge rifle, to include the following, .22 RF, .22 Mag. , .17 RF.

All targets in each class are shot at 25 yards.

The (old) rules for Class 1 expired 4-30-09 and have been deleted. (This update to C-1 made 7-16 09)

Note that we will use three different classes of rifles for this shoot and from now on and these class rules will apply for all future Fun Shoots. Make a note of them.

(NEW Rules for Class 1 Fun Shoot as of 7-16-`09 SPECIAL ADDENDUM to C1 irons and scoped shoot. PLEASE NOTE, that from this date (2-4-2019) on forward the ammo used in this class is limited in price to $4.00 per box for 50 rounds.

This Class 1 Fun Shoot is reserved for beginners and novice of any age.
Targets will be generous and fairly easy to learn on.
Class 1. Box Stock HUNTING/PLINKING rifles only, NO target rifles allowed. Allowed modifications will be limited to the addition of a scope with variable power settings and shortening of the butt stock for fit to smaller shooters. Scope power will be assigned at the time of the shoot. Usually not more than 9X. Iron sighted rifles will use original sights or replacements like the original. Any rest is allowed except Machine Rest.
These modifications to this Class 1 shoot are implemented to allow older beginners and novice shooters to join in the Fun Shoot without the heavy competition of shooting against target type rifles and highly skilled shooters. Those rifles and shooters will go to Class 2 from now on. If you have questions, PM me direct. SmallCal

PLEASE NOTE, that from this date (2-4-2019) on forward the ammo used in this class is limited in price to $4.00 per box for 50 rounds.

SmallCal

(Unchanged)
Class 2; Modified Hunting/Sporting Rifles. Allowed modifications will be limited to the addition of adjustable scopes with the power setting assigned at each shoot, adjustable receiver sights, globe front sights, trigger modifications/replacement to lighten weight of pull but NO low end limit but must be safe. Barrel replacement of any design that doesn`t make your rifle exceed the weight limit of 10.5 lb. total weight. Stock modifications or replacement stocks that resemble thumbhole or sporting stocks which have a convex forend profile and horizontal width no greater than 2 inches wide are allowed.
If your Modified Sporting Rifle exceeds any one or more of the above limits, it will be in the higher Class 3 group.

(Unchanged)
Class 3; All of those rifles that were/are designed for the strict purpose of Bench Rest Shooting with unlimited modifications and all of those rifles that exceed any limits in the Modified Hunting/Sporting Rifle class.
This class can be divided into two sub classes of those bench rifles with scopes (unlimited power) and those with iron sights (unlimited type). This sight division will allow all of the super race guns to be included here.

If you are unsure of the class you should be in, go to the next higher class and state that on your score/target postings.
I do know that there will be some rifles that are so close to fitting into more than one category that its hard to tell where they should go. If in question, go up a class.

Post score as shown here.

New gun first 50 shots so not to bad I think?

RFC Alias, Norwegianrimfire, First name, Øystein
Score w/ bonus, 115, Class 1 scoped
Scope, Barska 3-12x40 (9x)
Rifle make, Marlin XT-22, Ammo, CCI SV
Weather conditions, sunny and a little wind.
Excuses, New gun with a little heaver trigger than I am used to.

Same target, gun and ammo. Scope at 12x Score 70 Class 2 scoped.

The gun:

That's pretty good for a new rifle, Øystein. :t

I find that a lighter trigger return spring helps to tame a heavy trigger pull. All my CZs have it done. Maximum return for <$1.00.

Weather permitting, I'll go to the range tomorrow...

:F

Thanks Stan. I took it apart and degreased the trigger today. Putt on a light oil. Now the trigger is around 2,5 lbs and that is about the same as on the Voere. Going to shoot a box of CCI SV before I will test Geco and Geco Semiauto.

Pluss some 20-30 other brands when I get the time to do it  :D:D

Superb shooting Cow!

I'm planing to give this target a go tomorrow.

However, I do have a question on scoring.
I thought that you can't score a 10 if the hole is touching a line?
"Shots COMPLETELY in the white score 10 Pts."
To me that meant after you eyeballed/plugged it, you'll need to see some white.

That was my point in post #10. This target is a serious challenge.

So even if that ends up being the way to correctly score it, you still shot a killer target.:)

Smooth.

Here's an enlarged image.

The (-5) shot is what it is, I scored 10 for the shot below. There were a couple of squeakers but I think I did alright.

If not I'll just have to shoot another target... :D

Great examples.

IMO the bottom left shot is a 5.
Why, because even unplugged it's clearly touching the black outline. (No white showing).

Now if you can touch the black outline but not extend into the outside white, then that's a whole different story, and your score of 135 would be correct.

I just don't read the rules that way. If I'm wrong in my understanding, that would be fine with me.
I'd be happy to shoot the target with with that being the rule.

Hit the range this morning with 1 box of ammo, and 2 rifles.
Conditions were very nice. Mnimal winds and 60°

1st up was my 1727F-22 CISM configured as shown.

This target was easy to score with all of the fives clearly being outside the line.

RFC Alias: Smoothtrigger, First name: Kevin.
Score: 120/150, Class 3 rifle, Class 3 scoped target.
Scope: NF Fixed 42X Competition.
Rifle make: Anschutz 1727F-22 CISM, Ammo: Lapua Center-X.
Weather conditions: 60° minimal winds.
Had to take a photos because my scanner isn't loving my MAC MINI today.

2nd up was my 1416 with its brand new Benchmark 2 groove barrel.

This target has 2 scores.
The one in Black was scored the way I think the instructions state.
The one in Red was scored with every shot that didn't break completely though the line and touch the outside white being scored as a 10. (All of the Red 5's were scored as 10"s.)

RFC Alias: Smoothtrigger, First name: Kevin.
Score: 115/150, Class 3 rifle, Class 3 scoped target.
Scope: NF 15-55X Competition.
Rifle make: Anschutz 1416 TH Benchmark, Ammo: Lapua Center-X.
Weather conditions: 60° minimal winds.

In any case I have shot one box of ammo which is all I typically shoot for RFC contests.
So these are my 2 targets for this months match.

I'll update this post for both of them in the "official manner" once a clarifying decision has been made on how to score them.

Scope, Mueller 8.5-25 x 44, set at 12
Rifle make, 455 CZ varmint, Ammo, Eley Force (42gr)
Weather conditions, 62 degrees, lightly raining
Excuses, new rifle, first time for the ammo (Force).. I don't like it.

Super shooting there, Smooth...

Øystein, SK PM works okay for me. :)

Very nice shooting on the very tough Class III Stan and Smooth. :bthumb:You guys make it look easy. I am afraid if I had a Class III shooter, I would be all 5's with these old eyes.

And to clarify, shot must be completely in the white. Cutting any perimeter line reduces score. A plug may be used to aid in any guess work. I trust you fellows judgement as you have Target in hand. Thanks for joining in!!!

#48 · (Edited)
I think I understand the original intent.

Therefore I think we need to say touching, instead of cutting the line.
Touching is touching, and that means my Black scores are correct.

Cutting is ambiguous.

By cutting the line, is that digging into it a bit, or completely severing it and haveing the edge of the hole touch the outside white area.
I think it clearly means touching, not cutting.

Just one man's opinion.:)

My score then would be a 120 with my 1727F, and a 115 with my 1416. Thats after the targets were plugged.

As I said this target if tough, but I really enjoyed being frustrated by it.:):)

It seems that we're all on the same page now with Cow 54 rescoring his target.
Like I said, it's still an excellent piece of shooting.:)

However to make it absolutely clear.
Shorty123 please take a look at this photo, and give us your final ruling.
Far left is clearly a 5.
Far right is clearly a 10.
Center in my opinion is a 5.
