December Ultimate 10-22 Final Vote

Log in to see fewer ads
First off, for 2014, the contest will be run in Ultimates on a quarterly basis, starting again in March or April. I might be doing a genre based monthly contest featuring different styles of firearms, but for now, it will be on hold. This has been a LOT of fun but is also time consuming and I have a family and work that need to be my focus.

On to the December final-

We had SEVEN builds submitted. The members have spoken- 84 members voted. I will now post a poll for the final vote between the
TOP THREE contestant rifles.

The prizes for December will be provided by Kidd Innovative Design, Green Mountain Rifle Barrels, JWH bolts, Que Bolts, Gunsmither Tools and Raven Eye Custom.

Kidd is THE Ultimate of the Month Title Sponsor.

The December Contest sponsors are Green Mountain Rifle Barrels, JWH Bolts, Que Bolts, Gunsmither Tools and Raven Eye Custom.

December Prizes will be:

First Place:

A $150 Merchandise Credit from Kidd Innovative Design, a $100 Merchandise Credit from Green Mountain Rifle Barrels, a JWH Custom Laser Engraved 10-22 Bolt, and a Raven Eye Custom Titanium 10-22 Tune Up Kit.

Second Place:

A $100 Merchandise Credit from Kidd Innovative Design, a $50 Merchandise Credit from Green Mountain Rifle Barrels, a Ruger 10-22 Bolt with Tune Up and Jewelling by Que, and a Raven Eye Custom Titanium 10-22 Tune Up Kit.

Third Place:

A Gunsmither 10-22 Tool Kit and a Raven Eye Custom Titanium 10-22 Tune Up Kit.

***********************************

MY SINCERE THANKS TO Kidd Innovative Design, our Ultimate of the Month Sponsor, and to Green Mountain Rifle Barrels, JWH Custom Bolts, Que, Gunsmither Tools and Raven Eye Custom for their generous sponsorship of the December 2013 contest!!!!

When casting your vote, choose the rifle that YOU think should win.
Below are the characteristics that represent what an "Ultimate" consists of, but it's up to the individual voting member to decide how much emphasis to place on each of the areas, and choose the build that suits your individual taste.

Voting SHOULD be based on the following

Ultimate Build Characteristics:

Originality: Is there anything unique/different about the build?

Material Quality: Simple- what components and materials- Fit & Finish.

Execution: Does it function? Is it thrown together, or did the builder pay attention to detail, such as paint/polish/customization/ergonomic adaptation.

Accuracy: we need a standard. I propose MOA to 50 for scoped rigs as a minimum, and either 2 or 3 MOA to 25 or 50 for iron sight rigs as a minimum.

Artistic Impression: that overall X factor that makes a rifle cool-

GOOD LUCK TO THE CONTESTANTS!!!

Dear Lord-

A THREE WAY TIE!!!

John and Kent- not to worry, gents. When this goes to the general membership via an announcement, you guys will pull ahead. I'm convinced that few people even read the build threads and sporters always win over benchrest rigs.

There is no doubt in my mind that this months contest encompasses every corner of ultimates... doesn't matter who wins, you all are deserving. I made my vote some time ago and if I could have voted for all three I would have

Let's see, Dr. G's has some incredible components and the stock is a work of creativity and art. John's Luxus may be the prettiest sporter stock I have ever seen on a 10/22 (and more than a few other models as well). And that Groovie -- well, I have always had a soft spot for the Ruger fingergroove stock. It has lines that are just about perfect (IMHO). So any 10/22 in that stock is at the top of its game. And that is a really nice one!

So... I vote for all three!!! Wait, I can't do that? But...

What a choice!

Aaarrrggghhhh!!!

Last month was like 41,42,43 until Thanksgiving day, then it took off and went crazy. It just shows the talent of builds in so many different ways, and visions, and they are all unique, but awesome. I think in case of ties the 3rd place winner from the previous month gets to take the prizes, and divvy them up as he sees fit to do. Whether or not they are to contestants, past or present.

Well, it's already been decided that in the event of a tie, there will be a shirtless paintball duel to decide the winner.

Perhaps you're volunteering to be thier practice target?

I just finished mine, so I only have one card to show with the barreled action in this stock. When it was in the old Eliminator stock, it accomplished quite a bit, all you need do is follow the build thread to see the ballistic pedigree.
I will say right now that in the event of I tie, I will stand down. I can almost GUARANTEE that there will be no tie. When the contest is announced tomorrow, voting will increase sharply and the pecking order well defined.

I would hope you wouldn't stand down in event of a tie. I have to confess that I'm more than a little surprised with the results so far. Thanks to everyone who has and will cast a vote for my entry. I'm more than proud to be in the ring with two very worthy submissions.
