"The Ultimate Classic Carbine" by InfamousJ:

Bio/Build Specs, by InfamousJ:

The purpose was to refresh/restore the second gun I ever owned (the first I ever worked to get) as a kid, and pay tribute to the role it played in developing my interests in the outdoors, shooting, hunting, and responsibility of firearm ownership...After finding the stock burried in the kid's closet amongst toys, clothes, and baby stuff, I had to rescue it and do whatever in my power to bring it back to life to the best of my abilities...I wanted as many original parts as possible, while at the same time upgrading every functioning part available without making it looking overly modified or cluttered with too many aftermarket parts...To personalize it, I wanted to build it in a way that was also unique and "one-of-a-kind" if possible which can be difficult since the rifle is so popular and so many were made...

Stock, receiver, Bolt by QUE, trigger guard, butt plate, barrel band are all original and hand polished

Stock-high gloss lacquer finish...
Trigger-Brimstone Tier(3)? (whatever his best job is) with Power Custom oversized safety...
Ruger factory stainless barrel, shortened to 16 inches, threaded, and rechambered by QUE with DIP thread protector...
Superior Concepts charging handle
Harris bipod
RT pillar bed kit/custom brass receiver pins, VQ takedown screw, KIDD Vblock, TI mag release, TI-25 mag, Dyed BX-1 Ruger mags,
Nodak NDS 40 front sight...NDS 26 rail/peep combo...

This gun was built by fellow RFC member Passinby.
His description:
The stock: I worked with Claude Gatewood to complete a Thumbhole Varmint design he had been working on. This is the second one he made. After having the prototype turned from one of my blanks and I asked him to find the absolute best Claro Walnut blank with as much flame and marbling figure as he could find. It is gloss finished. The grip cap, forearm tip and buttpad spacer are Ebony.

The barrel is a 27" Green Mountain 22lr octagon, purchased "in the white"
and shipped, along with the receiver, to Randy at CPC. Randy cut, chambered,
crowned and threaded the barrel to the receiver. The barrel has been polished to 600 grit and deep blued. Combined with a CPC bolt, this hardware set is is the 25 yard 1/4" clubs, the 50 yard 1/2", 3/8" and 13mm clubs.

Bolt return assembly is all Rimfire Technologies with O-rings in the handle grooves.

Trigger group is the ever-awesome KID 2-stage (8/8)with extended release lever and straight black trigger (perfect for vertical grips).

Scope is a Bushnell Elite 4200 8x-32x.

After my first trip to the range, my thoughts were:
I have never experienced such a fine shooting gun - from start to finish.
I shot about 250 rounds onto an assortment of targets at 50 yards, all with
incredible results. I shot seven 10-bull targets with my worst score being
a 99 of 100 with 4x's. Six were 100's and ranged from 5-8x's. I shot 12,
5-shot groups that ranged from 0.06 to 0.23, group sizes that I often have
a difficult time accomplishing with bolt-action guns. I then shot 4 of the
50 yard tack drivers - all of which scored 25/25. I cannot remember a time
that I shot as consistently well, especially on a maiden voyage with a gun.
My only challenge was to stay within my concentration zone with all the
people who walked up to ask about the details of the gun.

I will post some additional targets from yesterday as soon as I score/measure them.

Very best to all....

John

Third Place: "E-L-K" by DrGunner

E.L.K. Eliminator Kidd Lilja by DrGunner:

I would have to say that my biggest point of pride in building this one is it's overall accuracy and accomplishments. The build was an evolution that took 18 months in total, going through four different barrels and a full pillar bedding process before I was happy. It is amazingly accurate, and now only gets shot on more rare occasions kind of like the sports car under the cover in the garage that you don't drive every day...

Revolution Eliminator stock in "Coffee" color, pillar and Devcon bedded
1" Bronze Ruger eagle medallion countersunk into bottom of pistol grip
Bisley adjustable butt plate
Ruger Black/silver eagle leather sling & swivels
