I have three Vortex Crossfire II scopes, two are illuminated, one is not. Good glass at a fair price and lifetime warranty.

Rugerboy50 sir I would not rule out getting any more V-24 scopes there will always be someone who wants to sell one...that is the route I would take. Sorry but mine are not for sale. I learned a long time ago if you like something stick with it...you will happier in the long run and you will probably get one for cheaper

So which reticle do you like the best Varmint or the Ballistic X ??

Leupold ERF. Proven quality, clear lenses, repeatable adjustments, lifetime warranty, made in US not China.

I bought a used 6-24 with a Varminter reticle that I really like, now I just need to find two more. LOL

I've been looking at Sightrons with the MOA2 reticle.

We all know that Leupold scopes are great. Problem is that they don't make anything in the same kind of power range as a V-24 for even close to the same price. I've been looking for another VX3i 6.5-20 and the cheapest I can find one new is $899. If they still made the VX-II 6-18 those would be a great alternative even with less magnification.

If you like the V-24, another one to keep your eye out for is the Sightron SII 6-24x42. I have a couple of them (mine were made in Japan, the later ones were made in the Philippines, but I've HEARD they were just as good), and three V-24s. IMO, the Sightrons are just slightly better, optically, than the V-24. And I believe that the Sightrons are also good from a durability standpoint. And they have lifetime warranty that they will honor whether you bought the scope new, or not.

I do like the V-24 just fine though. If someone wants a V-24, they aren't that hard to find. There are usually several on E-bay, usually some brand new ones. And they pop up here in the classifieds section from time to time.

If you can still find a 5-20 Grand Slam, thats where I'd go. But thats me. And the price you can get one at would also dictate that. I sold my V24 to get a 4-16 Grand Slam. That made me want the 5-20. And of course, I sold the original 4-16 and added 3 more GS scopes in varying reticles. But of course all were at nice sales prices.

I paid around $250 for my V24 and sold it to a friend for $200 in basically the same condition it was new. Too bad those Weaver sales didn't live forever. It was a nice 3-4 years for good less expensive optics.

Flash_80 sir he can still buy a Grand Slam 5-20x Dual X reticle from Natchez today if he wanted to give up his first born...back in March they were selling for $399 and today they want $668.99 for one...my three 5-20x with the Varmint EBX reticle IIRC was about $359.

That is the problem with natchez after a sale the price of their scopes can go through the roof for months or could drop like a rock...you just never know with them. But because they are getting toward the end I don't know if the price will come down again before the run out of stock.

I will tell you one thing I am so glad I have all of mine and a few spares to play with. I just gave my younger brother one of my 4-16x GS scope to play with for a few months to see how he is going to like it. I am looking forward to his report of it because he is a die hard Leupold guy.

I don't remember the last time I posted this picture of my Weaver collection...so I guess it's time to post it again...just so people know I put my money where my mouth is. I do have a few of them.

all these scopes are 4-16x and up

I agree Signalman that it was great when we could get the GS scopes at Natchez for the sale price. But that being said I think what they are selling for now is more indicative to the actual quality of the scope. If I was looking to spend $600-$800 on a new scope (and hadn't already known what I paid before) I don't think I would have any problem spending that on a new GS. Especially after comparing it to other scopes in the same price range. We were really lucky to be able to get the GS, SS, and even V Series scopes at such great prices.

I bought one a few weeks ago at DR Gun Supply for $590.99 plus shipping. Model #170885. They are still listed at that price on their website.

That is true that we were lucky to get the ones we have for such a great price...the 5-20x are really nice for a CF rifle but a little large in my book for a hunting rifle in rimfire caliber. They fit nice on my 527s and I just love the 4-16x on my rimfires.

It was kind of hard to just buy a scope just because but I did and I am so happy that I did.

I did look at the Leupold 6-18 VXII scopes and the only reticle I wanted was the LRV but at 6x on the low end was just a touch high for me for a rimfire hunting rifle...I would be the Leupold guy here on RFC if they made a 4-16x scope with that reticle in it. That is the one thing I still don't understand about Leupold today still no 4-16x scope when everybody and his brother has one.
