My cousin had one of those Ithaca 49's,,,

My cousin had one of those Ithaca 49's.

I don't know if the rifle had any accuracy or not,,,
My cousin was one of the worst shots ever,,,
He did well to hit the ground with it.

But, to kids who avidly watched The Rifleman every week,,,
That rifle had the Cool Factor ours didn't have.

Nice story by the way,,,
I enjoyed reading it,,,
Thanks for posting.

Mine is the M49's inspiration, a 12/15ish BSA Model 12 with a 12/15 trigger group, stock and PH peep sights. For a 1920 vintage rifle it shoots lights out.

I believe he was shooting the metallic silhouette targets not the paper ones.

I canít pick just one. Itís a tie between the Stevens 14 1/2 and a Garcia Bronco. We used to (25+ years ago) use shorts off the back porch to take out the invading army of empty soda cans with the Stevens and more recently itís been the Bronco loaded with colibri to kill those pesky water bottles. For anyone thatís never tried it full water bottles will catch the colibris at around 15 yards.

Myself, I have several single-shots,,,

Myself, I have several single-shots,,,
Ranging from a vintage es340B Mauser and a WZ-48 Polish trainer,,,
Through a H&R Sportster, Savage 3B, Mossberg 320, and a Henry Acu-Bolt & Mini-Bolt.

I even have a Cricket that I purchased just for laughs.

I also have single-shot adapters for three modern bolt-action guns.

But the one I always seem to reach for when I go to the range,,,
That would be the Henry Acu-Bolt.

I really can't pin down why it appeals to me so danged much,,,
I like blue steel and it is all soulless err stainless,,,
I like nice wood and it's polymer stocked.

The Henry does remain my favorite though,,,
Maybe it's because I hit as well with it as any other rifle I own.

I like my 510X models the best because of having the factory grooved receivers. They shoot as well as any of my other 5-teen rifles and are light to carry squirrel hunting. Pictured here in front of the 510's is my Model 33 made in Jan.1935. I also have a few early 510's with the open sights.

i have 2 favourite single shots, a sportco martini (converted from a .310 cadet) fitted with a greener early cadet rear sight, pretty much a copy of the BSA martini model six. the other is a bayard half automatic in .22 long. interestingly, highland ZX super quiets fit and function just fine, accuracy is not too good, as the first half of the bore is well worn/eroded, and the last half is only fair. doesn't matter, it brings a grin to my dial every time I shoot it.

Winchester Model 55 SS Automatic

My favorite rifle is the first one I received when I was 10 years old. You donít see too many of them, it a Winchester Model 55 Single Shot Automatic. Donít have the original box.., Santa must have thrown it away! I do have the red hang tag though. Itís killed many a squirrel and quite a few rabbits. Iím 71 years old and have had quite a few 22 rifles, but this one is my favorite.
