Changing receiver on Henry H010

Hi All,

I just picked up the Henry H010. It's a nice gun. It has all the features I want in a lever action with the exception of the brass look.

Has anyone ever attempted to switch out the black receiver for a brass receiver?

Henry won't sell me the piece, but I was contemplating taking out the receiver and sending it to a casting place, casting it with brass, and inserting it back in.

That might be a little crazy... not sure.

I stripped the black from mine down to the silver and I like it better than the black or the brass and it is holding up better than a couple friends who had the brass ones. The brass got pretty sad looking after being used.

Talking me too

the silver finish looks good on my henry also. I polish it with mothers mag / aluminum wheel cleaner, leaves a protective coating that helps keep it shiny.

The OP has an H010 45-70 which has a blued steel receiver, no stripping the black paint here and leaving it silver.

gfields, I would keep that H010 and pick up a Big Boy brass to keep it company.
love my Big Boy .357mag Carbine.
