Thanks Chuck.
We need to keep it going until the rest of the group comes back on board.

I am new to the shooting sport and had never been to a range until I purchased the CZ last November. As a wildlife photographer my investment in camera equipment makes it little difficult to justify adding another activity but I am definitely hooked. Now if I could just get the wife to agree to the same kind of money I have spent on wildlife photography, I have a bucket list rifles that would be fun to own. (Since wildlife photography is my business, she is a little more understanding on that front ... LOL)

Photography

This is funny, I keep running into photographers in the shooting sports. I started in photography in 1967 while in high school. Weddings and that sort of thing. Then Uncle Sam said he needed my help in winning a war, so I took care of that for him. Then went on to my military job as a photographer. After he did not need my help anymore I went to work for the army core of engineers. Then from there I went to work as a commercial photographer. Got tired of art directors, went to work for myself running a e4 and later a e6 lab. along comes Billy Clinton and he outlaws all wet lab processes in gov. work. Big push in digital. E6 goes out of favour within 6 months. Then on to digital printing. A large part of the printing was for wildlife photographers.

I am retired now and tired.

I remember those days!
Early 70s in a small apartment having to set up the darkroom in the only bathroom. The challenge was fun and truly rewarding but I wouldn't go back to film again.

Where did everyone go? This month is winding down with only two shooters! I was counting on this one as I can't get into most of the RFC matches with my CZ 457 Precision Chassis.

I can only hope they are waiting for better weather.

Just swamped with work here since the weather change with 12 acres. Haven't even had a chance to shoot the 100 yard Irons which I host. Tough time of year. And snow and wind today.

John, I have every intent on shooting this match but weather and recovery (going extremely well) have reduced my typical attempts at putting the hole in the right places. Snow here today and just above freezing. Hoping to hit the range this weekend.

Nice shooting Jack. At 40 degrees I would need two pairs of gloves covered by fluffy mittens!

I’m interested in participating. Are these bulls the same dimensions as an ARA Factory target? They must be smaller if shooting them at 25 yards?

They are the same size as the ARA "Unlimited" target but considerably smaller than the ARA "Factory" target, Appalachian2. (I have the regulation targets from a club match I shot last Wednesday and measured both.) Still fun to shoot at 25 yards for the RFC match. Look forward to you joining in.

Thanks for the reply. I thought that would be too easy with an unlimited gun. About the trigger on a factory gun, what about polishing factory parts? I have a few entries to choose from. I’m just trying to be on the up and up. I printed out some targets and will be shooting soon.

The target is the same as regular ARA target. When you print check the size, outside large circle is 1 in.

Polishing the trigger parts is allowed, just no replacement parts that are not stock to the model of the gun. Of course this only applies to the factory class.

As to being to easy, you need a 2500 score to move up to the 50 yd. target. Remember a factory class is being run along with a unlimited class. Less things for me to keep track of.

Please come along on the ride, we would love to have you shoot with us.

Question for Chuck40219: When I started this match I was using a 3" wide bag rider so listed my posts as "Unlimited". I now have a narrower bag so the bag rider isn't needed and wonder if I should now be posting as "Factory" class. The only other question would be the $1,000.00 cost point. When I purchased the CZ 457 Varmint Precision Chassis, last November, the MSRP was $999.00 but raised to $1,039.00 the first of the year. (I paid $881.00) Considering this is all in fun for an online match, it really isn't important but thought I would ask.

Out this morning and couldn't beat my 2400 best for the month but came close.

Unlimited, 25 yards
Screen Name: Pipes1 Name: Robert
Rifle: CZ 457 Varmint Precision Chassis, Vortex Strike Eagle 5-25x56, Ammo: SK Rifle Match, Score: 2350

Weather: Mild winds and 65 degrees.
SEB Mini front rest, Protektor rear bag.
