I'd be up for that. I think they need a designated rimfire zone at Ben Avery anyway. The concussive blast of the .338 Lapua with a muzzle brake that always seems to end up at the table next to me, is just about enough to knock me off my stool. Maybe put all the rimfire shooters at the end 10 or 15 tables.

Better yet, if the "Rimfire Central Arizona Chapter" was a sufficiently sizable and formal "User Group" to book the reserve specialty range just to the east of the main range . . .

Let me know when and I'm in. The only time issue I have is that I pick up my Grandson at 3:00 at school Monday thru Friday and have Taekwondo at 11:00 on Saturdays.

New guy here in Chandler, I mostly sneak over to Rio by myself on a weekday. Should probably get involved in a club or league.

Where can I shoot?

The place I use to go shooting out off of Carefree Hwy is now posted. Does anyone know of a place out in the desert where you can shoot. I live near the 101 & 17 but willing to go any direction for an hour or so. Any help would be great.

Evad, try Table Mesa Road, first exit off the I-17 north of New River. Head west from the exit ramp, maybe a mile, maybe less, off the highway. Itís a well-maintained dirt road, accessible by most any car. Youíll see several designated shooting areas to the left just after you pass the Cemex facility and take the left at the fork. I live in the same area and itís 20-25 minutes from my front door.

I believe Table Mesa Rd is BLM and is currently closed due to current fire restrictions.

The Table Mesa Road area is indeed BLM land, and I stand corrected. The last time I was up there was a week or so before the restrictions were imposed.

I need to find a deal on 5-10 acres of otherwise worthless dirt in the desert and buy myself a DIY shooting range . . . .

I see Ben Avery has reopened to online reservations only. I'll probably try an off-peak Wed/Thurs afternoon reservation to see how that works out.

Look into a gold claim. You can get recreational acreage for cheap with the stipulation that no permanent structures may be built (and the land isn't *really* yours)

Thanks for you input. I was told to try going up I 17 to exit #286 / Dugas Road and go east for a few miles and shoot there. Does anyone know about this place?
