I take pictures of about everything except portraits, weddings, serious stuff and you had better avoid children if they aren't yours. Especially with a long lens. So much more to learn with this camera and I have several flashes and don't know how to properly use any. Same for most of the settings and post processing. I could use some lessons. Imagination is something that takes work as well. But to get that unique award winning shot...you need skills and a certain amt of luck. I just do it for fun and exercise. Throw most everything away. 1917

Half to two thirds of of 'em are in skilled pro hands. Sometimes I feel like an outlier with a Nikon.
When I was in the Air Force we used Leica gear. They were so cool at the time. They had interchangeable backs so you could pick the format based on what you were shooting. Couldn't afford them myself, so I looked around and got a good deal on a Canon and have pretty much stuck with them. If I would have found a Nikon instead I would probably still be using them.

I do have a little Nikon point and shoot that I carry on motorcycle trips. At the time I bought it I couldn't find a Canon that had a 12:1 zoom and the image quality I liked.

I would be happy with either Canon or Nikon.

Concur, and the fact that most of these are taken handheld is mind blowing. Well done, beautiful pics.

Yes, in camera and or lens stabilizations works wonders. I use a tripod occasionally but not often. I've been able to shoot 1 sec or longer exposures and have them come out very sharp....if I do my part. 1917

Love this shot. Darn cardinals are tough for me to capture - they just don't seem to stay still for very long and love to hide in the branches of trees and shrubs.

I happened to get these shots of a male and female but, unfortunately, not with my best long range gear. I was just out for a walk at a nearby nature center with my D5600 with a 18-140mm f/3.5-5.6.

Great sequence. Always fun to shoot herons...with a camera, of course.
