How much torque do you apply mounting a rail to the receiver and the rings to the scope?

I use 20-25 in-lbs for both if I can't find any manufacture's recommendations. Many rings and bases can take up to 60+ in-lbs, but the scope and rifle manufactures usually don't recommend this. If rings/scope are failing to hold at 25 in-lbs, I would FIRST check ring and mounting interface for dirt or damage first before going beyond 25 in-lbs. If for whatever reason you must torque above 25 in-lbs on rings, make sure the scope rings have been lapped, or use Burris Signature rings, otherwise you could end up with a binding or damaged scope.

Although I don't use it for rimfire, consider locktite for screws, especially for hard recoil guns.

I agree and that's what I use on my bases. Here's what Burris did recommend and it makes sense, too. Depends on how deep the screw fits the way they put it. However I always use 20-25" lbs, also.

What is the recommended inch pounds of torque for installing hex head base screws ?
For attach holes that have more than six threads, tighten to 22 inch pounds . Attach holes that have less than six threads, tighten to 12 inch pounds .
