Calmer this morning. Still light breeze.
Getting use to this rifle. Has different stock than my CZ 455s have.
Laser 67 yards.
10 shots. Didn’t like feel of one of these shots for sure.
Aiming at top center edge for aiming point.
Some older hornady I had laying around.
No burst cases.
Like what is see.
Gun like to be held it seems like I like to hold gun.
Action screws at 15” pounds.
Barrel screws at 35 inch pounds.
Nexus scope at 15x.
Outside temp 53F.
That’s a 2” dot for reference.
Time to take to squirrel woods. See what it does.
Lighter than my 455 setup. Somewhat. Same scopes mounted.
Btw, dip rail for 455 will make scope set around .1” lower over bore than dip rail for 457. Using same exact rings both guns.

Still liking the scope.

A tip here maybe for some folks.

Scope height especially bigger objective scopes can make cheek weld tough or getting head (eye) in position faster to squeeze off shots on game.
I use camo duct tape over this mesh I bought.
Not much tape contacts the wood stock or even synthetic if that’s what you got.
Think I have my height right now.
Made adjustment yesterday evening.
Felt grand this opening.

I cut short length pieces of the mesh and place on spine of stock in cheek weld area.
Then cover with camo duct tape.
Actually in pic, stock was covered with some mesh and then duct taped. I used rifle in the wild some. Then went higher. Just added more mesh over the top of first job I did and more duct tape.
WOrked good.
May look cheesy.
I don’t care.
I care more about function. And holding gun where I need to be shooting.

Here’s the mesh.
I bought the camo duct tape at Wally World.

Almost forgot.
Good idea if you go this route. To use half width of duct tape. This will look better and the tape when angle is slightly changed wrapping stock less wrinkles. I did use a little full width duct tape to seal the deal (rear section) when I got height like I liked.

Here’s the mesh.

Pic of CZ 457 with element Nexus scope with 50 mm objective.
Squirrel don’t want to be close to this rig.
Look toward front of stock (taped area), you’ll notice quite a bit raised up for cheek weld.
This scope is close to barrel too. Really be hard to get it closer. Enough room for my cut off sprite bottle to slip over objective for rain/snow.

May not win any beauty contests, but if it works then that's all that matters. Good groups, looks like its shooting well.

457 model is getting the miles put on her and quick.
Briars, weeds, limbs, etc, it gets exposed.
Rain too.

You won’t find a closest queen looking gun at my house. Period.
They get used. Not abused though.
