I picked up a 5.5 in stainless MKIII hunter two years ago, pre-COVID (just barely). Some minor dings at the base of the grip, at the back. Probably previous owner disassembled it or tried to. Works fine and no other complaints.

Got it for $375 plus tax.

Very nice price. I remember when I got mine shortly after when they first came out. Pulled it apart, cleaned, an lubed. The internet and I got it back together the first time!

Enjoy.

I've been looking for one of those. I'd gladly give $375 for one.

Even with a glut of MK I,II and III's on the market, the Hunters still are hard to find. Folks tend to hold onto them. The 5.5" and 4.5" versions are even harder to find. I myself had a 5.5 Hunter in the collection for a bit but sold it off to someone who wanted it more than I did at the time. (and was willing to pay dearly for it.) You did good!

I have had my Hunter about 17 years (bought it when the Mark III's first came out) I like the balance and sight radius, and shoot it open sights. Also, got the Hogue Grips for it!

I have the exact same pistol as the post author, with all the extras the same. It is my favorite 22LR pistol. The trigger is so light it is almost TOO light LOL.

This Mk III Hunter with VQ updates shoots as well with open sights as my VQ scorpion with a Red dot. Triggers feel exactly the same.

The Scorpion is a nice pistol but it should out shoot the Mk III Hunter which costs hundreds cheaper.

Just shows what a great gun the Mk III Hunter is.

I've had similar experiences with other Volquartsen models and my pair of Competition Mk II and III's. While it's nice to buy "the best" most folks, myself included would be better served to spend their money on better quality ammo.

I bought two in July last year. I paid 545 for one and 529 for the other. Both were new. I waited until they were almost non obtanium. I had thought I had paid 645, and 629, in fact, I just went back to where I bought them and looked up the purchase and printed my receipts. Of course, all I got was two mags and a pistol in each box. I was very happy to get them. They look a little different, one is matte finished in the flutes, the other is shiny in the flutes. One came in a cardboard box, the other was in a plastic box. I wish they look alike. I need to talk to ruger about that. The later pistol has the shiny flutes and the plastic box. I have changed the grips. I think the hunter is the best looking Ruger MK 3 pistol. They shoot very well. Just a little question for you Mk3 shooters……shiny flutes or matte ?

Are you talking about a Ruger MK3 ? The finish of the flutes on one of the MK3 pistols I have is matte, the other is shiny.
