Webley oddity ?

Log in to see fewer ads
I just did a search on a Webley Nemesis and found no posts about one. I bought one about 1994 or so. I love this gun ! I used to have some steel sheet metal targets about 3x6 inches all around my yard and shot them frequently. I got to where I could hit them regularly at about 40 yards with this gun.
I'm a little surprised I can't find one mentioned at all. Was this a short run gun for some reason ? Do I just have a fluke ?

Looks like I answered my own question

I did some snooping around and apparently, the Webley Nemesis is now the Beeman P17. It has a few small changes from mine but pretty much is the same as I have. I think I paid about $150 for mine some 25 years ago and now , this version is selling for around $29 bucks ! I see some great reviews for it. I think I'll order one not because I need it but ,because I want to need it.

A little more info

The P17 is made in china. The Weihrauch Hw 40 and the Beeman p3 are the same but made in Germany Around $200.

I have no idea how long this model was produced, but it was featured on the October/November/December 1995 cover of U.S. Airgun Magazine.

Here's a photo of the pistol, itself:

It came in a blister pack with a blue and yellow card stock insert.

That's it ! A great gun. I was shooting mine just yesterday. Hitting a coffee container at about 150' some 6 out of 10 shots. And I'm quite rusty with it. I ordered a P17 just because it was so cheap . I keep y'all posted about the similarities when I get it.

I had two of these pistols back in the day gosh 25 years ago feels like yesterday!

They were "ok" but suffered from an annoying issue the barrel was held onto the Slide of upper body by 2 phillips screws and a bar of sheet steel inveitabley this would work loose and the barrel would slowly start to move forward eventually you would lose velocity as the breach seal would no longer contact the rear end of the barrel.

Also the grip was pretty uncomfortable

Hopefully they fixed the breach issue and at that time i was rather hard on guns and would regularly put 2 tins of pellets through a pistol in an afternoon.

This was the last death throws of webley production before they where taken over.

Get yourself a Webley premier or Senior and you wont look back, built like a firearm no alloys or plastic and will last a liftime

Luckily I managed to get a Birmingham made Webley Xocet Carbine bull barrel rifle just before their demise!

Shame its way over the legal limit in the UK

Love my P17. One of the best bang for buck airguns I've ever had. I disabled the auto-safety feature by removing two parts (safety still operates manually). There were sharp edges all over the plastic, but they're easy to remove with an x-acto knife.
